We booked this apartment for my 40th birthday stay in London, expecting a lovely place to stay from the photos and the price... It was well and truly a huge disappointment! Firstly I was using a mobility scooter and there was a wheelchair symbol on the booking website, and it listed a lift so I wrongly assumed this would be ok. There were two steps up to the entrance of the flats, and the lift could barely fit two people in. Needless to say my scooter didn't fit in the lift, and we were located on the top floor! The lift was extremely claustrophobic (I don't usually suffer with this, but I did here), old and rickety. It quite frankly scared me every time I got in it, and I ended up walking down the stairs to avoid going in it too often. We arrived to a large amount of building works immediately opposite the building that were very noisy (there was no mention of this when booking). When we were shown to our apartment it was not what we expected at all. There were stains and marks on the sofa and the carpets. Everything was run down, there were broken tiles in the kitchen, the bath looked filthy, the furniture looked like it had been found on the street, a drawer handle was missing, and the wardrobe consisted of a little built in cupboard with a portable hanging rail inside. The paintwork was all scuffed and looked dirty, it could definitely have done with a fresh coat of paint. We complained to a member of staff (initially about my mobility and the stairs), and he moved us down a floor to a different apartment that was slightly better. However it was still in a state of needing a serious refurbishment. The bed was quite uncomfortable and I was convinced the head end of the bed was lower than the foot, so I ended up sleeping the other way around! There was also a big dip in the middle which made me wake up every morning with a sore back. The shower was attached to the bath taps in the centre of the bath, yet the holder on the wall to hold the shower was at the end of the bath. When I tried to put the shower up, the fixing was broken and didn't even hold the shower up. We mentioned this to the staff and they temporarily put some tape on it to hold it up. They then had to call a handy man to replace it the next day. I was so disappointed for this stay as it was for a special occasion and cost a lot of money for what it was. The photos were very deceptive. The only positives I can mention was the lovely member of staff that tried to help us (I think his name was John). He really tried to help us in every way he could, even helping my husband lift my mobility scooter up the steps when we arrived back. He was very friendly, and I could tell that he must have to deal with a lot of complaints from other people staying here. The other positive was the location, it was brilliant for where we needed to go, which is why we chose this place. I booked a last minute which wasn't as cheap as one might think and when my trip changed, they wouldn't even budge. You book, you pay. No compromise solution. Safe to say, they can keep the change but I will never book with them again. Not commercial at all!
