The grounds are gorgeous, the staff friendly and helpful, and the cottage large and well appointed. Very peaceful and quiet. Short walk to the shore. Laundry available. The office has beach stuff you can borrow - free! Chairs and an umbrella came in handy.

On our next visit to Kaua'i, we'll stay again at the Waimea Plantation Cottages. Although they are equipped with all the modern conveniences (flatscreen TV, A/C, microwave, indoor plumbing)their basic structure is still that of the 1920's workers cottages they originally were. The atmosphere reminded me of state park cabins and old farmhouses I recall from childhood vacations in West Virginia, so I felt right at home. We heard that some of the locals choose the cottages for their staycations! The beds were comfortable. There was a working kitchen. On our next visit, we plan to have more time, so we can shop at the local stores for ingredients. We used our complementary DVD rental to watch "Moana 2" on the TV in our cabin.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Off the beaten path, kind of rustic. Very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Is you want peace and quiet, with everything you need, then this is your place. Watching the waves roll in with morning coffee or enjoying the beautiful sunset, you can’t do any better than this. The property was very well manicured, with daily attention by groundskeepers. Use one of the grills, if you like. They were spotless clean.

We traveled to Waimea Plantation Cottages for a wedding and stayed for 10 days. Some of the cottages are nice but the one we got was not. It was Cottage B. You do not want this cottage trust me. It is in need of repairs and some renovations. For starters the shower heads in both bathrooms were way too low and I’m only 5’8”. I would have to squat down to wash my face and rinse my hair. There was a hole in the wall that was poorly repaired and. It repainted afterwards. I also noticed that when my son was in the shower and I was outside that the shower was pouring water from the drain onto the ground. A lot of the windows have rotting wood on them and the bathroom in general was dirty When I went to the office to ask them to be moved to another cottage they told me that they were fully booked and couldn’t. They never offered me a discount for any of the inconveniences during my stay. On the day I checked out the leak still wasn’t repaired and from the looks of the algae on the pipes outside it has been leaking like that for a very long time. I would say in general that most of the cottages could use some repairs especially for what they charge. I paid $4400 for 10 days. This place could be really nice if they did maintenance on these old cottages instead of just letting them fall apart. I would describe them as the slumlords of the hotel industry I would not recommend Waimea Plantation Cottages.

酒店回复: Aloha. We have discussed your remarks with our staff. The assistant general manager would like to speak directly with you about your concerns. Unfortunately, we do not have your email or phone number as the reservation was made under a different name. Would you please send this information to sales@waimeaplantation.com? We will forward the information to the AGM, or please call the property directly at 808-338-1625 and ask for Lori. Mahalo.

After coming here off and on for many, many years, I’m sad to say that this is the last time. The management here is unresponsive. We called and emailed, repeatedly, before our visit, trying to get information about where we’d be staying, and what kind of equipment they had, if any, for the 9 month old baby we were bringing - we waited forever for a response, finally receiving just a bare bones email with no responses to our questions. The policy here is that you cannot choose your accommodation - just the category. So if you get one of the worse units, and they are otherwise sold out, well, too bad, that’s your vacation. These units are old, rustic, and not at all modernized. They have A/C now, which is great, but the plumbing and electrical connections are decades old. The linens are much the worse for the wear. The kitchens are very poorly, and cheaply, equipped. It’s basically clean, but sticky with built up grime. They have the makings of something charming and unusual here, but their failure to invest in the property over time has really started to take its toll. It’s nearly deserted here, as I write this, but they refused to give us any leeway on our checkout time. I have a hard time believing that by tomorrow, a Tuesday afternoon, they’ll be full up. I almost get the sense that they are hoping we won’t return. Maybe the idea here is that they have a captive audience, with very few other options, so they don’t need to do much at all in the way of customer service. Our unit was ok - that’s as far as I’ll go. It’s sparsely furnished, with mismatched furniture that seems to be whatever was left over. I always liked that this place was not uniform and predictable, like a hotel is, but they have taken that idea and stretched it way too far. I’ll miss the quiet here, but not much else.

酒店回复: Mahalo for letting us know about your experience. We apologize that you had a poor experience with your stay. I did discuss your experience with the front desk manager. Yes, there truly was another party booked into the cottage in which you were staying right after you. With only 59 cottages and limited numbers of each cottage size and location, it is not unusual to have back-to-back reservations like this. I was told that you were offered another cottage for your late check-out, but you declined the offer. If that is accurate, I'm sorry that you felt that offer was inadequate. It was the best we could do to help you. As to the condition of the cottage you were staying in, a hard goods refresh for all the cottages is in discussion with the ownership group. We hope that there is agreement soon, so we can present a more polished face to our guests. Again, our apologies for a less-than-perfect ending to your stay with us.

We stayed at Waimea Plantation Cottages, Cottage D, from August 21 to 27, 2025. Despite the beautiful nature and great location, our experience was extremely disappointing. First, there were mice in the cottage — a total of 4 over 5 days — but each time we had to call the front desk to have staff come and remove the dead mice. Traps were set reluctantly and with a smirk. Often, we had to wait half a day for someone to come. Second, our phone was stolen after we checked out. We reported it to the hotel just 7 hours after leaving, providing the exact location. The hotel took no action to investigate and claimed that “nothing was found,” even though only staff had access to the cottage before the next guests arrived. This appears to be a deliberate disregard for guest property and trust. For a price starting at $500 per night, this behavior is unacceptable. We are extremely disappointed and strongly do not recommend this hotel.

酒店回复: I checked in with the office and I understand that they have been in direct contact with you over your experience. They did look for your phone a couple of different times. We apologize that we could not find it. Maintenance is checking on the mouse issue as that is a very unusual occurance in the cottages. Mahalo for raising the issue. We appreciate your candor.

Gorgeous grounds with plenty of amenities. The cottages were well maintained, beds were comfortable, and has everything we needed in the kitchen. Nice to have Chicken in a Barrel and a coffee truck on site. Check in was easy. Easy access to Waimea canyon. Our stay couldn't have been better!

Full disclosure. This was our fourth Hawaiian trip that included the Waimea Plantation Cottages. Just the two of us this time - we were in one of the smaller cottages. As a very tall individual, it was not working for us. They graciously moved us to a larger unit. When you come to Hawaii, they say you go on island time. This is the place to spend some of that island time. We'll be back.
