£22 for a beef roast is appalling at the best of times, but for that plate to contain only a few slices of beef, 3 potatoes, half a carrot and a teaspoon of broccoli cheese is genuinely unbelievable. Everyone on our table of 5 also agreed the beef was tough and tasted sour. When I raised this with the server he simply said “well no one else has said that. There is a lot of garlic on that beef”. No apology, no offer to comp a dessert, nothing. And for the record, garlic doesn’t make beef taste sour. I will never return here. Abysmal value for money, unappealing food. I left feeling like I’d been robbed.

Lovely place to use as a stop over. Comfy bed, spacious room and a great meal, staff fantastic too.

Really warm atmosphere and great staff. Very nice lunch. Wish we lived closer, could see visiting regularly. I hate the fact that these reviews have to be so long. Genuinely want to support teams who have worked hard to create a comfortable, hospitable atmosphere with nice food and staff who take the time to actually engage. Perfect recipe for a local pub you return to frequently. But none of the additional info I’ve put into this second paragraph says that any better than the first and frankly, I’ve just had a nice lunch, I don’t want to write an essay.

Stayed 3 nights at this delightful pub and enjoyed every minute. Our room was spacious, clean and warm. Whilst the pub was always busy the room was quiet. The food was top draw and the breakfasts were exceptional, large portions and quality are the order of the day at the Oakhill. You can even create your own 'full English', from the menu. Special thanks to Wayne and Gill for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. A big thumbs up to this historic hostelry. All the best in your future endeavours

Amazing, but let down by the bed
The service, food, atmosphere, drink selection were all outstanding, making this a great first impression when we arrived.
The room was nice, with a decent ensuite shower and good size room over all.
Unfortunately, the bed was really quite bad. 2 old mattresses pushed together (not uncommon), but as they were old sprung things instead of memory foam, and with solid walls to them where they met, it was like rolling over a hill and down into a valley.
Didn't sleep well at all due to this, which is a shame.
Replace the bed and this becomes an easy 5 star review!

Stayed here to attend a course nearby. What a fantastic place. Gorgeous cosy inn. Room was fabulous with a large comfy bed, good quality bed linen & a large en-suite that had a roll top bath & separate shower too. Delicious food and excellent customer service. Would highly recommend a stay or a meal here.

We recently stayed here for 1 night while visiting the area. What a lovely little Inn. The manager and staff were very friendly. Our room was perfect and had a large en-suite bathroom. The bed was very large and comfy,so had a good night's sleep. We had an enjoyable meal in the evening and the breakfast was superb. We normally do the full English, but we had the salmon royal and eggs benedict....delicious. We would definitely stay here again.
