We spent two nights in the Skotskar (Scotch Cart) room. Up a narrow flight of stairs you emerge into a large, well-appointed, extremely comfortable bedroom. Up a couple of stairs further you find yourself in a large, airy shower and bath equipped bathroom. The hot water in the shower was always piping hot. Breakfasts were a delight with a large selection of fruit, cold meats, and cheeses, followed by a traditional cooked breakfast. We tried the omelette, scrambled, and poached eggs, with all the trimmings. Our hosts, Madeleine and Johan Smuts could not have been nicer. Positive, intelligent and welcoming. A very pleasant stay indeed. Perhaps the best we've had in George.

Great Guest House

What a great little Guest House. Upon arrival we were greeted joyfully by the owner who walked us through and showed us around, she could not have been more kind and generous. Our room was perfect and sadly it was only for a one night stay. Breakfast was cooked to order which included plenty of sides such as yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, lots of different teas, coffee, cheeses, croissants etc. I had a very pleasant conversation with the owner over breakfast. Truly an enjoyable experience. We definitely recommend staying here if you are ever in George.

Lovely stay at Waenhuis

We enjoyed a lovely one night stay at the Waenhuis Guesthouse. The property and the 2 rooms we booked were beautiful, and quiet and we really enjoyed our breakfast. The staff and management were kind and professional and so welcoming! Thank you to everyone at Waenhuis.

A beautiful piece of history and a very comfy guest house. Madeleine and Johan are wonderful hosts. Madeleine goes out of her way to ensure each guest has exactly want they want for breakfast. Safe parking and ample room size with a view of the mountains.
