Stay elsewhere. Murren is a very expensive area for lodging so it’s tempting to want to pick this place, but know what you’re getting before you book. If you are looking for a hostel (not hotel) that hosts young student camps without adult supervision, this is your place. We were 3 adults and 1 teenager and chose the third floor, quintuple room, for its spaciousness and balcony view. The view was stunning and the included breakfast were the two top features. It was great to have 2 small bathrooms next to each other in our room, but there were no toiletries included. One of the beds had dirt on the sheets. The room had wood floors, was very dusty, and rustic, with sloped ceilings. It’s a large room with a closet in between the sleeping areas that does not reach the ceiling. Unfortunately there were also 40 children from nearby schools also staying onsite, as their summer camp, with only a few teachers as chaperones that were nearly impossible to find the many times we needed to get the children to stop screaming, running up and down the wooden stairs, stop slamming the wooden doors on our floor. Students had names on the outside of the rooms, boards up for activities they would be doing, which left hours of free play inside the hostel. Each floor had WC, one for women and one for men. Most rooms did not have inside bathrooms. Kids were running around with just towels on, sitting on the floors in groups, and yelling throughout the property, night and day. The kids were left unsupervised on each floor. We tried to find property workers at the front desk (mostly closed), inside, outside, adults, teachers, anything and anybody to help keep it down. One maintenance worker said they were throwing things outside of the windows, jumping through windows onto the ground, there was nothing he could do. When we did reach somebody at the front desk and said this was unacceptable he said he’d talk to his boss to see if something could be done as compensation at the end of our stay. We finally asked the kids who was with them so we could go direct to the source, we found one teacher in her room who said it wasn’t her kids, another two teachers in a lounge area who said it wasn’t their kids, and finally a teacher on the opposite side of the hostel near another staircase who said this was a known kids summer camp, not a tourist hotel, and therefore we were in the wrong for picking this location! It was an absolute nightmare. We’d just flown in to the country, took 4 trains through Switzerland, traveled a very long way to find some peace and quiet at this incredible mountain village, only to have to deal with the utter chaos and screaming kids during our stay. We got $100 off our $1,100 two day stay as compensation. As far as the location, most hotels in Murren are going to have incredible views due to the mountains all around you. This property is in the middle of Murren, so if you train in or take the gondola from Interlaken, you will have 15-20 minutes walk with
