My son and I stayed here for a Leeds United away game. I paid around £140 for the night, which was clearly inflated due to the hotel’s location on match day. In terms of location for match day, it’s excellent. The hotel is roughly a 20-minute walk to the ground, an easy and pleasant enough walk, and having a pub downstairs for a few pre-match drinks is a bonus. We didn’t eat there, but the food looked decent from what I saw. The pub itself is quite nice, though drinks were served in plastic cups due to it being match day. There was a good mix of supporters from both teams. Parking is on-street only. I had to drive into a nearby residential estate to find a space and purchase a temporary parking pass. Unfortunately, the room itself was dirty, dated, and in need of refurbishment. It was very small, with space for little more than the double bed. There was visible mould on the wall, and condensation coming through the window, which I could hear dripping during the night. The bathroom, however, was clean enough. As the hotel is above a pub, noise is to be expected, but karaoke was running that evening and did wake me up. Had the room been priced around £40, the issues would have been easier to overlook, but at £140 it felt extremely poor value for money. That said, I should add that the staff were very friendly, which was appreciated.

This is the first and last time we book anywhere without reading reviews first. Big mistake. We were delighted to be upgraded from our standard bedroom to the deluxe when we pointed out to the weary barmaid (there isn’t a check-in desk - you have to go to the bar) that there was wet black mould in the coffin-sized standard room. She called the owner who upgraded us to the deluxe room which again had no wardrobe, a carpet that feels crunchy if you dare to tread on it without your shoes, a cheap bed with extra bent springs, a shower that is either literally scaldingly hot or totally cold, an unusable kettle full of bits, a weird hole in the ceiling patched up with cardboard and a complimentary bloody bogey stuck to the dirty wall. On the plus side, if you enjoy bellowing over a deafeningly loud karaoke rig, you will enjoy Saturday night in the friendly community pub downstairs. The food there looked good too and the breakfast they do in the pub was decent. They show football matches too.
