This hotel is a Marriott associated property. We were 3 couples traveling together and separately booked 3 rooms in early June, 2025. Five days before arrival, one of our rooms was cancelled due to "a computer glitch!). I have NEVER had this happen before at any property, let alone a Marriott. I called to see if we could get the cancelled room uncancelled (I am Lifetime Platinum with Marriott). I had to go through Marriott who in turn transferred me to Sonder. First call, I was on hold, then line went dead. Second call going through the same process, I re-connected with Sonder. After close to an hour on the phone (mostly on hold), I gave up. Terrible customer service. Our friends had to re-book at another hotel at the last minute (more $$ to). And then there was our room (201) which was supposed to be an "upgrade". It was NOTHING like the photo on the website. We were surprised when we opened the door, the bed was less than 2 feet off the floor, the window curtain opened to an inaccessible concrete pit, there was a useless square tub took up valuable space as did the toilet and shower areas, there was no door between the room and the bathroom facilities, the sink basin was overly large with no real room for our toiletries, the door to the toilet area was very hard to open and the TV was sitting on the desk so that you couldn't watch TV and work on your computer. The room must have been designed by someone who does not travel much. For $450 US / night and an "upgrade", wow, I wonder what the un-upgraded room looked like. And to top it off, there was hardly anyone at the "front desk" to complain to. I will NEVER stay at another Sonder Hotel, in fact, I'm surprised that it's under the Marriott Brands, as it is nowhere close to Marriott standards. When I sent a complaint through Marriott, here is the Sonder response: "Thank you for being a platinum elite member. I hope this message finds you well! I am following up with you on your reach out to Marriott regarding your stay at Sonder The Slate. I want to first apologize for the room upgrade not being to the standard you expected. We typically do not have a 24 hour staffed front desk at most of our locations which is why you did not see anyone there. We recommend you use our chat feature in the Sonder app or give us a call. Sadly as these complaints were not brought to our attention during your stay we will not be moving forward with compensation. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to respond to this email. We are available 24/7 and happy to help." I called twice about the cancelled room before we ever got there to no avail. The response I got was “I have to talk to the manager….", then on hold. We didn’t say anything at the time about the room while we were there. What response would we have gotten other than the same response. What exactly would they have done differently? The hotel was fully booked if not fully booked, why was our friend’s room cancelled? I'm n

A perfect overnight stopping point. Found it easily enough (after walking the wrong way from the station like the tourists we are). Room was clean and comfortable and the building is well located for eateries. One small criticism, if it can be called that because I found it hilarious, was the frosted glass bathroom might look cool and contemporary but when you pop to the bathroom at 5am because you have jet lag, it may be wiser to use your phone torch rather than repeat the drama of me turning on the light and waking my husband up like the sun had just burst across the horizon. All in all, great stay. Recommended.

We had a very positive experience at the Sonder Slate. We liked the model they have which provides a stylish and great value place to stay in a perfect location, without many of the needless trappings of a regular type of hotel. We did have a problem with our room when we arrived and it was resolved extremely quickly by the on line support and the on site staff. They were superb and helpful. We would definitely use Sonder facilities for future travel. Our room was great. The bathrooms are certainly design led rather than being entirely practical. The check in and e door keys all worked flawlessly.

Our most recent stay really exposed the flaws with this not-a-hotel-quasi-AirBnB business model. At check-in, if there are issues, you're kind of just stuck. There's no one at the desk to talk to and even if you could get ahold of someone through the app (good luck), there aren't any rooms to move to. You also can't get housekeeping services even with longer stays. Even trying to get an extra towel was a fruitless endeavor. This paired with the fact that they did some renos that made it kind of bland on terms of decor and that the neighborhood seems to have gotten even noisier (the peddle pubs will drive you insane if you're unlucky enough to get a room facing on to Adelaide) and it's just not worth the convenient location. They've always gone for form over function (see frosted glass bathroom walls that wake up your partner if you prefer not to pee in the dark in the middle of the night, the free standing tubs that are impossible to get in/out of without slipping, the heavy ceiling height door to the bathroom isn't lockable but anyone else in the room can see into the bathroom anyway) but now that they've also chosen to use super low beds, it has officially tipped over into uncomfortable to stay. Your money is better spent at a real hotel.

酒店回复: Hey Everleigh18, thank you for taking the time to write this thoughtful review. Firstly, I want to apologize that you experienced challenges with connecting with someone from the Sonder team quickly upon arrival. You're right, that as a tech-enabled company, quick service should be an expectation and I apologize that we fell short. As a small hotel in the city, in the heat of the summer downtown, I understand your concerns about availability and noise. We do the best we can to manage guest expectations in these scenarios, by providing room moves when available as well as ear plugs and white noise machines in the spaces. Not all spaces are a perfect fit for everyone, and if you should consider choosing Sonder in the future, I would encourage you to look at our 5 other available properties in Toronto - all unique in their offering that may suit your needs. Thank you again for the reivew.

Overall, a pretty good stay at Sonder the Slate! When we arrived there was a very friendly woman at the front desk, I mentioned how we really enjoyed our stay at Sonder Apollon in Montreal and to our surprise she upgraded us from a regular room to the penthouse suite. Very unexpected and very appreciated. The room was large and very modern, and overall appearances were great. Some of the floors were a little dusty (hallway and around the bed), maybe from lack of use in the room but it was minor and didn't affect our stay. The layout may be trying to be a little too modern for its own good which sort of affects the functionality (ie the large bathtub with only a rainfall ceiling shower head and no way to fill the tub as well as the frosted glass toilet room) but again very minor and didn't affect us too much. Checking in and out was a breeze using the app. Our flight was little later in the evening we had to use the storage lockers. When we went to pick up our luggage, our code didn't work and we had to call Sonder to help us. They weren't long sending an employee to swiftly help us out. His key didn't work either but managed to get in with a master code. A little nerve racking at the time but they were very quick to help us out. Overall, a great stay and we will definitely try out more Sonders in the future.

Great property in a great location! Very modern layout. We had number 703, ‘The Penthouse floor. Floor to ceiling window wall on both floors, a frosted glass bathroom, and glass along the stairway. A LOT of glass. It was very windy and sub-zero on our three days there, so there was a significant draft problem. A bit of advice: bring your own cutlery, perhaps some plates, reusable cups, and perhaps a trash bag if you will be there for more than a day and night.

This was by far the most beautiful room I have ever stayed in. Clean, modern, and surprisingly quiet. We will be coming back!

Great downtown location, easy access, quiet and all the amenities of a hotel with less of a hassle. Great for business travel. Was able to get a king-sized bed for a very good price. Don't forget Sonder if you're not happy with hotel options.
