If you are looking for peace, want to slow down, calm your nervous system and wake up to the sound of the ocean, 36 Palms is exactly what you are searching for. The sea is right there — visible directly from the property — and if you are lucky, you may even spot dolphins playing in the waves. The atmosphere is deeply calming and grounding. The food is absolutely delicious: fresh, local, full of flavor and prepared with care. The interiors are beautiful, with authentic wooden furniture carved by local artists, which adds so much soul and character to the place. One of the greatest values of this resort is the possibility to consult an excellent Ayurvedic doctor, who takes a truly holistic approach and cares for your overall well-being so you can feel healthy and balanced every day. The Ayurvedic treatment packages are outstanding — especially the deeply relaxing Shirodhara massage, which was an unforgettable experience for both body and mind. This was my second stay at 36 Palms, and I already know I will come back again. The warmth and kindness of the staff, always helpful and attentive, made me feel very welcome. A special thank you to Dori and Gautama, the owners — wonderful, inspiring people whose presence and care made my stay truly special. Highly recommended for anyone seeking relaxation, healing, authenticity and meaningful connections.

I feel completely scammed. Despite charging 4- to 5-star hotel prices, this is nothing more than a roadside room. The photos online are a complete fabrication; the actual experience is loud, basic, and poor quality

The first experience cast upon us was terrible. Maybe it was because we expected it to be a mid-range hotel. But it turned out that it was traditional and well..the rooms had a very damp smell..which could have been maintained well. The number of staffs is really less. Food is overall good. Giving 1 extra star only for the hospitality. Kindly work upon it. It could have been a 5 star experience..the view is still great though.

We spent two nights at the 36 Palms Boutique Retreat, situated on Cherai Beach, approximately 25 km from central Kochi and 20 km from Cochin International Airport. The name "Cherai" originates from the Chera dynasty, which governed parts of modern-day Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the 3rd century BCE. The retreat is overseen by a friendly Polish woman named Dori, who personally ensures the comfort of all guests. We occupied two generously sized premium rooms that faced a protective wall built ***** the beachfront. This wall, just five meters from our rooms, occasionally allowed sea waves to lap against the corridor, enhancing the atmosphere with their soothing sounds. I’ve yet to encounter another hotel in India so intimately close to the ocean. The upstairs room offered a direct view of the sea. Our stay was delightful. The first-floor terrace, accessible to all guests, featured benches and loungers, and the property also boasted a swimming pool. Many foreign visitors were staying at the retreat, some for over a month. The buffet breakfast was satisfactory, offering ample fresh juices and fruits, and the meals overall were delicious. Guests could dine just outside their rooms or at the terrace restaurant. The retreat exudes a warm, home-like feel, making it a perfect escape from everyday life.

Although the resort has an amazing view and a beautiful property and pool, the service and maintenance of the property is abysmal. The food is abhorrent and the place needs a serious step up in their simple services that matter the most. There is no kids pool, the rooms are smaller than I expected unless you opt for the pricier sea view rooms which have privacy issues. The complimentary breakfast is horrible. They could do so much better by changing just a few things.

Went without much expectations and but happy with the property and rooms. All the rooms are designed uniquely with lot of wood crafted in different styles. Breakfast was not good, had to take outside. Except breakfast everything was more than what expected in suc place

We just wanted to get away from Mumbai. Having been to Kerala I knew that it is time consuming to go from Airport to Cochin proper. So decided to stay outside on this island which has a long beach named Cherrai beach. I had stayed on this island island earlier when I visited Athirapally water fall. We were looking for a small hotel as my husband didn't want to walk long distance to go to restaurant. The staff as soon as they saw an aged couple entering rushed to help with our baggage. We chose a room on the ground floor. Dining area was located one storey above but was easily accessible. Close to dining area was a swimming pool with lounge chairs to relax. I enjoyed swimming every day. Young foreigners were jumping straight in to the sea. We only went out in the evenings. The young hotel owner was so kind and friendly that whenever he ordered lunch for himself he also made sure that we get the same tasty food. This visit will stay in my memory for ever.

Unlike many reviews I saw on the internet for 36 palms , I personally found the place very decent. We had a small friends get together here and the entire stay was great. The check in was smooth, the sea view room was impeccable, food was ok, the highlight was the swimming pool. Though small it was apt enough for the 5 of us ***** with some more guests who were in at the same time. The food is arranged from a nearby place and therefore there might be slight delays if not ordered in time. The sunset view from the deck is something one shouldn’t miss. Overall a great experience. The parking is the only area I felt needed extra attention other than that everything was well managed.

We stayed here with our two kids after travelling from uk-was a perfect relaxing, gentle easing into our india trip for us all. Cherai is great and much more local and less touristy developed than varkala. We loved the hotel, had a balcony room overlooking the sea, listening to waves as we slept and watching dolphins in the sea from the infinity pool! Also had a great massage and yoga organised by the hotel. The staff were super friendly and helpful, place was clean, and view of sea literally epic. Dencil was particularly attentive, helpful and really cool with the kids. We look forward to coming again next time we come to kerela!
