酒店回复: Hi Jack, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. I hope you get a chance to return to us at some point in the future. Many people do not realise how good the YHA's are, and although biased, I do agree that National Forest is a good example of what the YHA provide. We hope to host you again soon.

We had taken a group to this YHA in July. We had just walked into the building and we had one of the door closer fall onto one of the group which they after had blamed us for the damage. They claimed we had made a noise on the ground which was true but as this seemed a very secluded area you should have been told that there are neigbours around. If you are looking for somewhere to have a great time as a group this is NOT the place. The staff on site had turned up early and claimed we had made a mess they never gave us a chance to tidy up prior to us leaving and they had then charged us extra for cleaning. I would recommend to keep far away from this hostel.

酒店回复: Generally at this point I would be apologising and asking for us to try to make things right for you, however, in this incident I will refrain from doing so. We hosted our operations managers overnight at the hostel who left on the day your group arrived. We were complimented on how well the hostel was presented to them. There was no broken door during their stay. The door closer was ripped off the back of the door which no longer made it a secure and safe fire door. There were many other items broken, notices and posters ripped up and destroyed then thrown across the floor. Furniture was taken and left outdoors overnight, rubbish strewn all over the hostel, door seals ripped out of doors and the boundary fence was broken and left lying across the grounds. On booking you are sent a document which asks you to be respectable of our neighbours by keeping noise to a sociable level after 10pm. Unfortunately, we had several complaints including a nearby resident call the police to the hostel as your group was still playing loud music and shouting through a megaphone until 5am, we feel this is not respecting our neighbours or our hostel. Check out time is also clearly stated as 10 am on all documents, which is exactly when housekeeping staff arrived to clean the hostel and prepare for the next arrival. We allowed you to stay around the site until 2pm and even stored your luggage for no extra charge. The hostel was left in an appalling state, of which you managed to achieve in a one night stay. We host sometimes up to as many as 5 different groups within a week and have been operating since 2007. We have never had a group treat our hostel with such disrespect. So, if any guests are thinking of coming to our to hostel to mindlessly damage it to this extent and upset and abuse our local residents, then I agree with your statement of telling them not to come, however, if they are looking for a lovely clean hostel with beautiful surroundings for their respectful gathering then I have to disagree with your statement. We welcome the return of all of our groups year after year but I will not be sad if your group does not return. The YHA is a charity which helps to aid funding for less fortunate families and individuals to have a holiday by using the profits made by the organisation. Damage like this is very costly to the YHA which has an impact on our charity.

Perfect base for national forest, seeing friends and family fun. We went to the lowe alpine/rab shop to replace some kit. Arthur mcglen for an hour. Calke Abbey and back to yha for tea. Fab kitchen facilities. Then a night time walk with head torches. Then Sunday a day at conkers

This is a great new hostel building located in the heart of the National Forest. This forest is largely based on reclaimed industrial land. So great for industrial archology, disused railway lines etc. But the tree cover is so extensive it really feels like one big nature reserve. Very relaxing time. Nearby towns of Ashby de la Zouch and Swadlincote are easy traffic free walks away. Try going to Church Greasly too where an old Norman hill fort is located. in the nearby village (Moiria) is an old foundry in parkland with craft shops and nearby is a coop food store. Also very near by is Conkers a forest theamed attraction with adventrue playgrounds etc. I really recommend this for people who want a few quiet and interesting few days away from the rush of modern living.

We enjoyed our stay and would like to have stayed longer. The outside space was lovely, with table tennis and space to run about and play ball games. We spent the evening sat outside enjoying drinks from the bar and outdoor games with the kids. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and we felt very relaxed there.
