I would say the location is the only drawback from this place, it's not right on the beaten path but I think the value more than makes up for having to walk a few blocks to main attractions in town. Its a small lodge and the staff is just fantastic. We stayed one night before our Uncruise and then another when we got off the boat. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Being off the beaten path might be a good thing because the noise level at night was almost none compared to downtown. The staff at the driftwood really makes it the place to stay. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasurable.

Although the decor was dated, our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The location was ideal for our purposes -- a block from the Alaska State Museum and Archives and the bus stop serving downtown. The only dining option in the area was the Sandpiper Cafe onsite, open for lunch and for huge, tasty breakfasts.

I just assume that every motel where I stay in the US will have a refrigerator and microwave. Not here. Lesson learned that you ALWAYS have to look at the description of room facilities before making a reservation. Totally on me. Motel has a very popular attached breakfast restaurant. Motel is just a few blocks from downtown Juneau. I would not stay here again because of the lack of fridge and microwave.

Our room had all the necessities, but some things needed improvement. Room size was good enough, the sink and bathroom were in separate spaces, and bed was comfortable. The location of the hotel was fine, with two eateries next door (breakfast and lunch only), and downtown, a 15 minute walk. The staff was reachable by phone and helpful. One lent me an umbrella without my asking and it came in handy. Suggested improvements: a coat of paint on the outside, need a light blanket in addition to the comforter which was too hot. Furniture looked old but all was functional.

Considering how expensive other hotels are in Juneau, this was not bad value for money. I didn’t like that if you had the curtains open anyone could see inside. But otherwise there’s a heater that works very well, large king bed, friendly staff and walking distance to everything. Convenience store next door with ATM

Bed was clean, and comfortable. Room was survivable. Place is a bit tired- but well started at 2**. Carpet looked new. Looked like the room had been freshly painted. Overall best experience for the level of hotel. Location was excellent. A great affordable place to stay in the heart of Juneau.
