Booked one Sunday night here to stay after visiting friends in nearby Calne. I was called on the day to check we were arriving between 3 and 5 pm as reception is closed after 5. Got there at 4pm and friendly reception got us into our room. The room and en suite bathroom were spacious and beautifully finished. We had a very good night sleep on the huge and comfortable double bed. The room faced the main road but the windows provided good sound insulation. Because the hotel was recommended by a friend I did not spend any time studying the details on their website. I thought it odd that reception closes a 5pm but they have only 5 rooms which explains that. I booked the room and the booking on web page noted "Super King bed and breakfast". It was not until the courtesy call on Sunday morning that I learned breakfast is not available on Mondays and Tuesdays which was disappointing and no alternative was on offer. When we got home I checked the website and the information is there. We had a superb breakfast at Fay's Bistro in Calne and returned home happy.

First time today at The Duke for lunch. Discovered as our previous favourite local recently closed due to economic climate sadly. Anyway we have found a more than suitable alternative here. Traditional but also inventive menu, beautifully presented and served. Just the right pace and attentive but not obtrusive serving staff, just as you’d want. Prices in line with food and classy environment. I sincerely hope the new owners keep this a going concern they are obviously trying hard and succeeding with their product and deserve to do well in these difficult times. Keep it up lads.

We came for a Sunday roast and it was honestly the best Sunday roast I have ever had. It tasted like a proper homemade Sunday roast, made with love, and was completely delicious from start to finish. The service was excellent, very polite and attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere was lovely too, cosy, well lit and beautifully decorated, a really comfortable place to relax and enjoy a meal. I would highly recommend visiting, you will not be disappointed. Thank you to the whole team for making our visit so enjoyable.

We arrived late afternoon with a fantastic wellcome . We were upgraded to room 4 beautifully designed with many thoughtful accessories to help along the stay . We had booked into the restaurant the food was outstanding and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and appreciated. Breakfast was excellent. Had an amazing garden but unfortunately the weather was unkind to us but the attention by the staff was first class. Would definitely recommend and if we are the area you could not book any thing better in my opinion many thanks for an outstanding stay Mrs Pidgeon

Not happy. Very poor service by the waitress monica. Couldn't get a simple order right and had to take for the other waitress to sort it out. And this isn't the first time. And then to top it all off they delete my review because it was negative. Makes me wonder how many more have been removed because they don't like what they hear.

A fantastic meal with excellent service. Beautifully located in the heart of Wiltshire. Relaxed atmosphere enabling you to enjoy your meal without the need to rush. Very attentive staff all with smiles and kindness.

We had a family and friends Baby Shower at the Duchess Room attached to the Duke Hotel. This was such a lovely afternoon for my daughter's friends and family. Brandon one of the owners and the dark haired young lady who did our afternoon teas were absolutely wonderful, the food was lovely and the staff were so generous with their time. I would highly recommend this venue and the food was equally as enjoyable. Thank you Duke for a lovely afternoon. Linda Carter

We visited The Duke for a family birthday on a Sunday. The roasts were absolutely delicious. Generous portions and absolutely delicious meat. Pudding also absolutely delicious. Service also incredible. A visit is a must!
