The Hotel was absolutely 💯 fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them. Was the perfect location to get engaged 💍 at. The hotel managed the table with flowers, with Lorna being behind all the planning arrangements for me, and being our photographer after the ring was placed. The room was amazing (104), a fantastic size, with seating area, and a breathtaking view of the sea and mountains. The restaurant is absolutely fantastic as well, the food being to a superb standard. All the staff are so friendly, and give 110% effort to make your stay so enjoyable.

This was a new year Hogmanay celebration package for 4 nights, there is not one negative thing I could say about the whole experience. The food was outstanding from breakfast to dinner, the rooms very comfortable and roomy especially the bathroom and the robes and slippers a a lovely touch, the biggest wow factor has to be the staff everyone of them deserves a mention I’ve never seen so many staff happy at what they do and nothing was a bother thank you

Stayed one night at the Douglas hotel before heading to Blackwaterfoot on the other side of the island and cannot recommend this place highly enough. Staff were so friendly and accomdating and on hand to answer any questions we had. Dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast the next day was brilliant. Their bar is also so, so beautiful. Gorgeous views whatever the weather. We stayed in Room 201 - booked a sea view executive room and it was very comfortable. Point to note - the room is on a higher floor so the sea view is through a small window but still very beautiful. Worth noting if you're expecting full window sea-views. I tend to get hot very quickly so REALLY appreciated the table fan they had in the room. A very large room and an even larger bathroom. It was our first time in Arran if a one night stay in Brodick was so wonderful - cannot wait to come back and see what more days and we will definitely be back and will definitely look to stay at The Douglas again. They sell a small Douglas Duck toy for a fiver and I had to buy one and take it along with me whenever we're travelling.

I recently enjoyed a short two‑night break in balcony room 202. The accommodation was lovely, with a comfortable bedroom that made for a very relaxing stay. Both breakfast and dinner were consistently delicious, adding to the overall experience. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to reconsider the roof decking surface. The current artificial grass tends to stay damp in the rain, and a different finish might feel more guest‑friendly. The shower, while functional, wasn’t the most powerful—upgrading to a rain shower would really elevate the bathroom experience. That said, I would absolutely return. My time here felt restorative, and this has quickly become my new favourite hotel on the island.

I stayed at The Douglas Hotel while on a solo trip that took in Arran for a couple of days. The room was fantastic: at the back of the hotel, but still with sea views. Very spacious and so quiet. The breakfasts were really good, as was the one evening meal I had, plus the service was very friendly throughout. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would! The couple of issues were lack of hot water at one point in my room, probably for half an hour or so. I checked this at reception, and I was told this was likely because of the time (6pm), the size and age of the building. Can this be helped? I don't know! But, if not, perhaps there should be a note in the room warning that this could be an issue. The second issue is something I'm not sure the hotel could do anything about, but, as I arrived, it there was a guy hanging around the reception desk, who'd had quite a few drinks, and then again when I had a drink in the bar. This dampened my first impression! I should add the bar area was lovely, but one or two local draught ales would have made it even better.

As the title suggests, this was our third visit to the Douglas and every bit as good as the previous 2. The staff are very warm and welcoming from reception to housekeeping to the bar and restaurant. A particular mention must go to Alastair who makes sure that we, and our dogs, are particularly well looked after. Breakfast is plentiful and fresh with a really good selection on offer. The rooms are so comfortable, lovely big beds and everywhere is spotless. We very much hope to come back to The Douglas Hotel in the not too distant future.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Our room was large and comfortable with a lovely sea view. The gardens were beautiful, well stocked and full of autumn colour. The staff were pleasant and extremely obliging. We enjoyed our meals in the bistro, but I have to agree about the dim lighting. I like to see what I am eating. The bar is well lit and less formal. Lunch is served well into the afternoon, and light bites are available. I am probably in a minority here, and this is my only criticism. I really don’t like to see dogs where food is served.

No idea how we've overlooked the Douglas for so long. Stopped in for a pre-ferry coffee & realised what we've missed out on. Stylish inside without being up itself and with a truly hospitable team, this is hidden in plain sight. In the bar area, the menu looks great & we'll priced so we'll definitely book a table. Coffee was good & we enjoyed our brief stop. One fir the next trip to Arran!
