Amazing lunch with friends. We took friends along as we had been impressed on our last visit as a couple. Lovely old traditional pub. Open fire. Good service. Tasty food and nice welcome. We used to go to The Three Crowns, but they now treat their customers like a number so we're happy to have discovered The Globe and will book a room next time.

The Globe is a great place to stop off for a pint. Friendly staff and plenty of seating. Good selection of local beers and ciders.

This is such a lovely place, the perfect location on Dartmoor, friendly helpful staff and amazing good quality food. This is the second time we have stayed at the Globe, and we certainly will be returning as soon as we have the opportunity. We have no hesitation in recommending friends and family to stay here.

An excellent hotel and lovely food. Very comfortable. A welcome rest and stay after a days riding on horse back across the moor.

We had two very smart and well-designed rooms, a double and a twin, both with a fabulous view of the church, well-chosen furniture, and reassuring attention to detail everywhere. Sensible wi-fi password. desks TVs etc well tucked a way in recesses. We did not expect to be offered towelling robes. We stayed one one night, and we had dinner in the bar. Though the staff were very busy, we were attended to quickly, given a drink straight away (Yes!) The artichoke soup was piping hot, the lamb shoulder was delicious, as was the redcurrant magic, the crusty fresh bread, veg, gravy and two nice big very crisp cold Chardonnays and a jolly Malbec. They even found decaf which was not on the menu. We had a really agreeable evening, but were sadly too knackered to work our way through the dozens of malts on offer. Absolutely not expensive. @£35.00 ? And just as much attention was paid to breakfast. Just a marvellous place to stay in a fabulous small town on Dartmoor. The building is 300 years old, and the fire doors, smoke lobbies and the means-of-escape was a little visually intrusive where it met the original panelling and decorative joinery , where it absolutely isn't in the bedrooms, and is reflected in the very reasonable rates.

Visited early this week and stayed in a Room named Magnolia which was most comfortable and spotlessly clean. We ate at the Inn and had dinner and breakfast. For dinner we had Lamb Shank and dauphinois potatoes. It was so nice to have proper food rather than ready prepared freezer to fryer tasteless Fayre. Breakfast was the usual full English but the difference is that it was served hot and all the components appeared to have been sourced locally. A big thank you to all the staff at the Globe for making our stay memorable.

We misjudged this leg of the two moors walk and we arrive here very tired in the late afternoon. We were ready for the rest. An older building furnished comfortably in shabby chic syle and a team of magicians (I can only assume from the restorative powers of their steak & ale pie and shoulder of lamb) in the kitchen allowed us to recover fully for the following day’s trek to Coleford.

Our dinner was exceptional in both presentation and flavours - the Grass Fed Beef Burgers and the Mushroom and Spinach pie, followed by the Vanilla Icecream Cheesecake were delectable. We had been warned by Mary that Friday night service could be slow, so weren't too phased, although we were very peckish by the time the starters arrived.

We had lunch at The Globe on a very busy Saturday yet the service and quality of food was excellent. The staff, from the barman come waiter to the chef who served our food were friendly and welcoming. We felt like old and valued clients instead of the first time customers we were. We also noticed that they have live music regularly both in the bar area and in their functions room. Highly recommended.
