Lovely old pub in a little village, no car park as such, staff were lovely and helpful but room was dusty on skirts and tables and the complimentary biscuits were out of date, two of them were October 2024, the small long
Life milks had expired early October as well. We couldn’t get Wi-Fi in the room despite the instructions being in a welcome book and we couldn’t get the tv on anything. Beds were nice and clean and the family room was very spacious with a lovely view. Could easily accomodate four people. Convenient stay over for the Holker Hall Winter Market.

Don't tell anyone 'cos I want to go back.
It was such a wonderful experience. Lovely staff, amazing beer, superb breakfast (the best English I have had for years). Charming /historic and quirky. Loved it.

Shown to our room the stairs needed cleaning. The floor in our room needed hoovering. The bathroom had black Mold on the shower hose and on the wall. The fan didn’t work as didn’t the heated towel warmer. The towels were well worn and only had 2 towels no hand towel. There was no food available apart from a pizza van outside. Breakfast was poor full English was 1 sausage 1rasher of bacon a hash brown mushroom and half a tomato. My wife had scrambled egg on toast with 1 rasher of bacon. There was toast as well. Would not stay there again

This is the worst public house I have ever visited, difficult to believe it is still open. It smells horrible , it is freezing ,and it is dirty, should be shut down. Please do not go there to stay or eat .The staff appear unkempt and rude . Such a shame because as the only pub in the village it does negatively impact on the character of the village.

Lovely homely welcoming Inn
We checked in to this beautiful old inn, and were greeted by owner Johnathan, we were shown to our room and told if we needed anything just ask. Being the winter the kitchen is closed Monday and Tuesday which Johnathan apologised for, we replied it’s absoulutly fine. He told us of the local Chinese just up the road and said please feel free to bring it back to our room to eat, which we did.
Excellent Chinese takeaway.
We slept like logs and woke to have full breakfast that Jonathan cooked which was lovely fresh and hot.
Will be booking again without a doubt.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Didn't get to sleep til late as there was a private function but this isn't anybody's fault we were staying in a pub and expected noise. The room was lovely, very nice coffee! The staff were friendly and polite.
No real parking available but we managed to find a space fairly close by.
The kids loved the room and we would definitely stay again.
