We very much enjoyed our second visit to Westgate Manor. We received a warm welcome from Kathryn and Stuart and our room, Bellevue, was lovely with a magnificent bathroom. Everywhere is spotless. The catering is of a high standard and professionally presented. Very tasty too. We enjoyed reading by the log fire after dinner and will definitely be coming again. Well positioned for Barnard Castle, Beamish Museum and Durham.

PERFECT. I stayed here two years ago back in October 2023 when visiting from the States. I was determined to stay again on my next trip to my former home, the UK, so I did. As they did last time, Stuart and Kathryn delivered the goods perfectly. Their super friendly hosting and hospitality made me feel like royalty. The food is still amazing. I stayed in an east facing room this time, with a beautiful view of the garden and old church steeple. The room was awesome. My stay here was every bit as wonderful as I expected and I will be visiting Westgate Manor every trip to the UK. I spent several years frequenting the Westgate area back in the 80’s and early 90’s and stayed in the same building that used to be called The Old Vicarage, now Westgate Manor, so I have great memories here. Thanks to Stuart and Kathryn, I have more. If you like hiking, you’ll be coming to the right place because Weardale is an awesome area for that. The hiking around this valley is fantastic and may I recommend hiking Slitwood/Middlehope Burn going north from the Westgate Methodist Chapel on Front Street all the way to the 16th Century lead mining area and beyond. You won’t regret coming here. It’s Awesome. Cheers again Stuart and Kathryn for making my stay fantastic.

We had 3 superb nights at Westgate Manor, a beautiful, comfortable country house with pretty gardens. We felt relaxed from the moment we stepped inside until we left. The hospitality of Kathryn and Stuart is 2nd to none, what a team! From ensuring we had everything we needed to the delicious breakfasts and evening meals, we felt very well looked after and wouldn’t hesitate to return and recommend.

We first found Westgate Manor last May and vouched to return which we did on 23rd & 24th September. You'll be very hard pressed to find a more welcoming, comfortable and relaxing hotel. Stuart and Kathryn are perfect hosts and provide some really excellent meals. Top class, highly recommended.

We have just had a fantastic few days holiday in the Westgate Manor House Hotel, you could not have wished for better. The hosts went above and beyond what you would expect. Food, great, service great, size of the rooms, great. I could go on and on. Not one single fault. Apart from having to go home. Please visit this wonderful hotel. Thank you

Stuart and Kathryn have created a welcoming and comfortable hotel. The room was nice and had everything we wanted. Our evening meal and breakfast were both tasty and offered a good selection. We would certainly stay again.

Excellent accommodation in a lovely old vicarage with extensive gardens and grounds. They also provide lovely food cooked by Kathryn and Stuart is an excellent host and waiter! Note: google and Apple maps are not accurate - take you nearby but to the wrong houses. Look for the lane which is signposted to Westgate Manor.

It’s little wonder that of 301 reviews at the time of writing, 300 have rated this venue as excellent. The location , the rooms , the hosts , the gardens , the wildlife, the food, the ambience, the little extra touches it’s difficult to know where to start. Suffice to say that we can’t wait to go back and the extra benefit was a beautiful part of the country that we barely knew existed. It’s not cheap … but it’s worth every penny !
