The staff were super friendly and able to recommend some great routes. Overall cosy cottage vibe with good facilities for a hostel, and is a great location for day hikers with a comparably priced car park in the day (free overnight). Seemed to be quite a few long distance hikers there too. Generally positive experience in a stunning setting rain or shine

This place is great to meet people, and the managers are super friendly. Its in the middle of no where, no shops nearby, so make sure you take enough food to cook in their good catering facilities. Stayed there for 5 sunny days, was a fantastic lazy break for me

Yha is really great, the hostel is cleaner than a hospital and self catering kitchen and lounge are better than home. Location is outstanding and you feel at home and safe people other than youth need to use these they make for a great cost effective familying time skoda

The hostel managers were really helpful in answering any questions I had. The room, self catering kitchen and shower room was tidy and clean. The parking was a little confusing but managed to figure it out in the end. Has the necessities and nothing fancy. Just what I needed

This a superb location for exploring the area. The staff were really friendly and willing to help. It was easy to find and the parking was easy to follow and pragmatic. There is no catered service on site but the self service kitchen is really well laid out.

Absolutely fantastic, this was my second visit and I loved every minute of it, all of the staff and and managers were too notch and always more than happy to help with whatever I asked of them. I've stayed at maybe 70% of all YHAs and this place is amongst my top 5 of the very best all round including location, I can't praise this place enough and I will definitely be coming back... Again. Thank you all at Idwal Cottage 💙

We have stayed in many YHA hostel, they are all very similar. This one was in a good location with friendly people around, but other aspects lets it down. Parking is £6 per day. There are no meals available so you need to drive to breakfast etc. The mattress and the single pillow are very thin and are so uncomfortable you may not sleep properly. To get out of the top bunk you have to climb over the side rails, there is no cut out to the ladder. While we were there, at about 03:00 the ceiling light came on in all rooms as a fire alarm (there was no fire), the emergency YHA number was called but no one answered. We wouldn't go back here but would continue to use YHA, I just wish they improve the quality of mattresses and pillows.

We were camping at the YHA and had a fab time. Definitely helped by excellent sunny weather. Huge plus to be able to use their kitchen facilities/shower etc. The people were very friendly at the YHA and nice beers/wine sold. Happy days! Recommended.

The chap working here was warm and friendly (Jurgen?). He was very helpful and happy to chat, also recommended walking routes and places to visit. We were in room 10, cosy and clean, although very hot, we weren't able to turn down the radiator and resorted to opening the window. Super location for Tryfan. The communal spaces were clean, comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay despite the weather!
