To say this hostel is overrated would be very fair. I stayed with my girlfriend and we loved being at one with nature. We cannot fault the room and the kitchen/ bar area. They are great social areas. The bird feeding activity would have been fun if we’d have seen any. The hotel lets itself down when it comes down to the organisation and events. The hostel is out of the way. We used buses to get around so having the bus stop out the front was ideal. We were promised free welcome drinks each night and we didn’t have any either night as we were told it was ‘understaffed.’ Don’t advertise something if you can’t put the events on! There was also a bingo event however it was tiresome and boring- rather than entertaining like Nomads. The happy hour and food was good. However food took an hour to arrive after ordering which wasn’t good enough. Really disappointed although I cannot fault the accommodation and facilities.

Sadly with the bird feeding we cannot control the birds as they are wild and some days they just don't want to come down and others they do. Since the cyclone we have been short staffed and you are correct the welcome drinks shouldn't be advertised if we can't supply what is offered. Thankfully we are staffed back up and we have 2 staff members on every night that look after the social hour and the welcome drinks. Hopefully you will try one of our other properties or come back to Maggie and we can show you what real hospitality is all about. Andrew Russell

A really nice place to stay. The shared facilities were really clean and all the staff were really friendly! The bus stop out the front was very convenient for travelling around the island. I felt very comfortable and safe as a solo traveller.

Really cool hostel, definitely a bit more upmarket in vibe but a really cool location and setup, nice little touches such as cruelty-free shower products free to use and a koala experience attached. The room had aircon and was a really pleasant stay

My mom and I were just visiting Maggie for the weekend and stopped by Selina’s on a Saturday. Our bartender Phil went above and beyond in taking care of us. Drinks were amazing too! Definitely will be coming back!

Selena, Magnetic Island is in the most beautiful place. The chalet is one of the most comfortable we stayed in all trip. And as for the staff, they were humorous and helpful…nothing was too much for them and we would go there again, 5 Star!

Great hostel!! Really chilled relaxed vibes, everywhere was super clean and staff were so friendly! Good location as well, bus stop right outside and the beach a 5 minute walk away. Loved the free yoga class as well!

This hostel was sublime! Unbelievably tranquil, relaxing and calm. It is like an island resort over what one would imagine a typical hostel being like. Every where was clean and the kitchen had everything you needed, with plenty of storage room for all your food items. The bar was fantastic, and they give you a free drink on your first night (as a welcome) which makes it easy to make friends straight away. There’s a pool table, bean bags and loads of tables to sit and chat with friends. All the staff are super friendly too! There is a fantastic pool, with loads of space to relax in the sun or in the shade of palm trees in hammocks. Wildlife surrounds you in this hostel so don’t be surprised to see friendly kookaburras, wallabies and possums around the site. Only downside is the limited dinner menu, that also finishes quite early, but the food available is great! The breakfast/lunch menu is a lot more varied with a lot of healthy options! Could not recommend this place enough for backpackers, campers, families and couples.

As a solo traveller this was a great place to meet others …. for example during social hour on my first evening Phil was kindly producing pitchers of cocktail for us on the house - thanks Phil! Also Anica is a new employee and you would think she has been here for years, so welcoming! Love the rattan and the wallaby
