Stayed here for 2 nights a couple of weeks ago. I requested an early check-in for which we were charged an extra £25 to ‘get the cleaners in early’. Upon arrival it quickly became clear that the cleaners hadn’t been in a while. Cobwebs, dust, hair are almost forgivable. A mouldy mattress and duvet on the other hand not so much. Mouse droppings that were explained away as ‘tobacco’ aren’t great either. The kettle was filthy as was the cupboard under the sink. You had to kneel on the dirty toilet to get to the sink behind it. 2 bath towels were supplied for 3 people being booked in. To be fair, when I mentioned the state of the room to Darren, he refunded the additional £25 for the ‘cleaners’. He reckoned he needed to find out what went wrong. But looking at long term reviews, the same things have been going wrong for years and nobody is even trying to change them. Still trying to make up my mind whether to do a charge back through the credit card company, especially after discovering that he has deleted my google review. The place is filthy, sort it out Darren.

I should have read reviews on tripadvisor. Had to cancel and in spite of having proof my mother was in hospital Darren refused to credit money paid towards another stay with them. Life happens and when it does good business people make concessions.

Firstly I want to say that upon ringing the owner/manager, he was very pleasant & arranged for bedding to be bought over. Sadly the rest of the stay was not good. I paid for a delux accommodation with 1 x king-size bed & 1 x single. The photos made it look quite plush, in reality it was basic, old, broken & dirty see attached photos. Where to start... There was 1 x double (maybe king-size), bed & what turned out to be, a sofa-bed. The mattress was old & stained & the top had compressed down leaving the tuft buttons to dig in you when laid on. The linen appeared 'old & tired'. One of the slats was on the floor under the bed. The pillows were hard & uncomfortable. We hardly got any sleep. The bedding for the sofa-bed had lots of marks all over it & initially we thought it had not been laundered. A king-size duvet had been put inside a single quilt cover & as such was also uncomfortable. The sofa-bed had a metal bar down the middle which meant the middle could not be comfortably slept on. The 2 bedside 'tables' (ones top stained) had fabric lined drawers which contained dirt/debris. The corner joint on the 'desk' was broken & potentially dangerous if leaned on. The back of inside of the cupboard under the sink was also quite broken. The outside bottom corner of the same cupboard was broken and either end of the worktop edging was missing. The mugs did not match & 1 heavily stained. There was dirty, mismatched (and not enough) cutlery. For dishwashing, there was a used dirty washing-up sponge. The carpet was stained, burnt (by irons) and had loads of pet hair all over & weaved into it. All of the window sashes and sills (bar 1) were covered in dirt, dust & pethair. The toilet, although in acceptable condition, had very very poor water pressure, to the point where if you flushed the toilet, you couldn't wash your hands in the attached sink. The front door led almost directly onto sparsly 'wooded', scrap type land (only the thick gravelled path separating) which was littered with an old dumped fridge, an old ripped/broken garden parasol, rubbish; old wolly hat, can, bottle packaging etc. The outside door, window ledges were also dirty. We noted in advance that our child is wheelchair dependent and so needed a wheelchair accessible room. However on arrival it was not wheelchair accessible due to the deeply gravelled path making it impossible to push, pull or propel. We had to carry him which was not easy. Apparently they did not know and/or been informed that a) there were 3 guests! & b) that one of us was wheelchair dependent.
