Stayed at the village of Oberau at the Hotel Alpenhof before attending the Passion Play in nearby Oberramergau. Delightful village. Delightful night life. Unique hotel. Stayed there with friends and had a grand time. Would stay there again. Good dining nearby, as well. Particularly the La Caprese.

We stayed here during our visit to the Passion play. The hotel has clean, comfortable accommodation, and is only 10km from Oberammergau. The bus station is about 1.5km from the hotel, an easy walk if you do not have to carry any luggage.

We stayed for two nights recently for the Passion Play at Oberammagu. We arrived to the stench of cigarette smoke and all our keys were just chucked on the reception desk to sort ourselves out. When we got to our room, it too stank of smoke which had infiltrated the bedding. The room was very dated with old carpets. There was a load of paint that had fallen off the wall at the back of the television. The shower drain smelt making it very unpleasant to shower in. Breakfast was very mediocre. At 6.30am each morning we were woken up by the building site opposite and we had to keep the window wide open due to the smoke. There was only one pillow on each bed with no spares. I cannot believe this place has a three star rating. It should not have any. The Wi-Fi was also very intermittent. My husband and I did not enjoy the stay at all and were glad to leave.
