5 of us had an evening meal. Everyone had something different and all were pleased with them. I had a delicious vegetarian cottage pie with vegetables. Desserts were also great, pancakes, ice cream and my apricot frangipane tart. Staff were friendly and gave good of service. If we were in the area again we would certainly eat here.

While a bit pricey .had a room with nice comfortable bed would have liked a nice armchair, single glazed windows, a bit noise from traffic main Rd. Clean and tidy .Breakfast was expensive as it didn't include a hot drink. The young man who was the check in receptionist waiter for breakfast was quite jolly .we had a room 2nd floor very steep stairs not suitable for any one with walking difficulties. Would stay again.

Comfortable clean room with great shower, had been recently refurbished I think. Food was fantastic (particularly breakfast which was epic), WiFi reliable and service second to none. I didn't collect any names but one of the bar staff, who had started recently, was really welcoming and got service just right. Nice to stay somewhere a little different, with a bit of character. I was travelling on business and this place was just right for a few days working locally. A great value option which some chains could learn from. Sure some of the corridors and landings could do with a bit of TLC but I won't let that overshadow what has been a really comfortable couple of nights where I've been well fed, watered and slept like a log.

The pavlova alone is worth the trip
Comfortable room with excellent tea making supplies - and a good sized mug each! The floor fan was useful as it was very warm. The hotel kindly allowed a later check out with a prompt and polite response to our request. Check in was efficient and simple. The evening meal was superb - great value and the pavlova! Wow! Chef’s kiss! All in all - a beautiful historic building and a really enjoyable stay. We will return I am sure.

The staff is incredibly welcoming. Dogs are permitted in the bar area. There’s an excellent variety on the menu, all at affordable prices. We chose the lowest-priced meals anticipating typical pub food, but it exceeded our expectations. The portions were generous and beautifully presented. Check out the photos. There’s also a fantastic selection of beers available, along with 5-star hygiene ratings.

Don’t let the the outside fool you. Inside the rooms are very well done and spotless. Breakfast was tasty, well cooked and hot. Coffee was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the allow dogs.
