We were very disappointed in this place. Firstly, i had to change the booking date and found it very difficult to make contact with the management. After several phone messages and emails, they finally replied and acknowledged the date change. there was NO pre book in communication at all and it was just lucky that the kiosk manager was able to show me where to find the key to the cottage. And there was nobody on site when we left. In the cottage itself we found it was not well equipped - there was no flat surface in the large bathroom to put our sponge bags. The TV remote and one electric blanket control were broken and there was no hanging space or mirros in the bedroom. Plus there was DEFINITELY NO WIFI in our cottage, despite login instructions being supplied. Whilst we understand that the building is old and has a lot of character, we found it uncomfortable and not particularly inviting. Considering the cost of this accommodation I expected a much higher standard. I definitely don't recommend.

A peaceful river front setting with historic colonial cottage accommodation in expansive well maintained grounds. Don't miss the museum.

Washing machine doesn’t work. No one responds by message and call. The place is dirty, mould on the walls and windows. I can’t believe that it is preserved heritage.

This is the second time we've visited the Low Head, George Town area and wanted to stay at the pilot station.
We were not disappointed; these charming old buildings are in great condition for their age. We had trouble with the gas heater in our unit but Jodi from the kiosk came to the rescue. The bed was comfortable; the kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment and parking was onsite and close to the unit. These units are old and have some "quirky" features at times. We would definitely stay there again on our next trip. The museum is well worth a visit too, there is so much history in this part of Tasmania.

As a history buff I was so excited to stay here only to be extremely disappointed. We stayed in Boatman West and glad it was only for one night. The accommodation has the potential to be amazing but completely misses the mark. Examples of this include a beautiful front courtyard that would have been lovely to send time in however the old broken dirty plastic outdoor table turned me off completely, the inside couch desperately needs replacing, the tv doesn’t have reception, there isn’t even individual toiletries instead there is large domestic bottles sitting on the shower floor which is unhygienic, the floors also needed a good clean . There isn’t even a deal done with the museum for guests staying onsite and are charged full admission. To make matters worse we were also somehow double charged which was quite confusing since the accommodation was prepaid in advance and then manually charged by staff again two days before the stay. This place could be really amazing but isn’t give the love, attention or respect it deserves.
