We booked here for Sunday roast lunch today, prior to today our favourite place previously for Sunday roast The Royal Oak in New Forrest. Paul, Caley & Sarah are friendly and welcoming, their Sunday roasts are ample and very tasty, also a good choice of deserts. Would throughly recommend.

Dropped in here for something to eat & drink on the 5th Sept. A surprisingly quiet Friday night, however, the food and service were excellent. Thank you

From the warm welcome to the awesome coffee, I knew I’d made the right choice when a perfectly cooked full English arrived. No rush , as the chilled tunes play away on a Sunday morning

Well, interesting developments. The Grenfell Arms is now serving both Traditional British dishes (e.g., fish & chips, and pies, et.al., etc). The Thai food gives an air of exotic. Their is very tasty, definitely not 'in the Sky'. Price are very reasonable. I shall bring the 6 of my Magnificent 7.

Grotty rooms - truly awful. I gave this place a second chance because I’d eaten a few times here and the food had been okay. I’m guessing it’s a place of two halves when it comes to food versus rooms. This time I had room 5 - upstairs. And when they say steep stairs, they aren’t joking - the bit they missed is narrow - and I’m not a chunky chicken by any stretch of the imagination, but these are mental stairs. Any mobility issues at all and you will definitely want to request downstairs. Now onto the room itself - literally nothing good to say - the stairwell was filthy and I don’t mean a little dust - truly horrific, the door doesn’t sit true in its frame so you have to slam it just to close it - everyone else must love that. Then when you get to the room, it gets no better. The carpet is grubby, the room has had a dirty cloth at best thrown around it and the bed is broken. The added touch of a previous stayer putting their shopping receipt on the wallpaper and it being left there for the next guest is something else. The bathroom is dated and the shower hasn’t had a clean in decades. The tv situation topped off a rather forgetful stay. No remote - you have to ask for it - even the room card says ‘if you can’t find one let us know’ so I did - first night was ‘we’re full there aren’t any !’- err okay - that’s great cheers nice one. Second night same message but with the added ‘I’ll see if my manager has one upstairs’ and with that they disappeared - the rooms were far from full and in any case why would a tv remote be the problem of your guests ??? Very bizarre. Won’t stay again - I recommend you don’t either.
