A long drive down south from Edinburgh! we had worked in Nottinghamshire earlier in our career so it was poignant returning to the county. Such a warm welcome! The accommodation "across the way" is brilliant: warm; lovely bed; shower and continental breakfast in the room which suited us. Really grateful for the excellent touch of cafetiere in the room. We loved eating in the pub and enjoyed the cask ales around a lovely fire on a filthy night. It must be very hard in the hospitality business at present. We loved our stay and the experience. We also felt it was tremendous value for money. Well done to the teams of staff at The Dovecote Inn. Let's support such a business which displays excellent customer care - in itself, very difficult to achieve.

We had a fantastic meal at the Dovecote Inn, Laxton. The place has been tastefully decorated and is very welcoming. The menu is interesting and the chef first class. We highly recommend this lovely pub in the centre of a historic village.

As a whole not a bad place. Room was clean and tidy. Liked the idea of continental breakfast in room included in the price. There is a small fridge in the room, which was a nice addition, but the fridge compressor was a bit noise Unfortunately the pub restaurant was closed. For the night we stayed. It does say on their website it is closed Tuesdays, but when booking a room there is no mention of this. Once you have booked we got a email saying restaurant was closed. As we were within 7 days of booking we couldn’t cancel and get a refund. So a bit disappointed as there was no where in walking distance to eat for nights stay

A fleeting one night stay as I had a meeting in Mansfield the following day. A lovely welcome from Debbie, shown to my room. Spacious, comfortable, clean and warm. Fabulous bar with a great range of beers, the meal I had was superb. Whitebait with a spicy sauce for starters. I couldn’t decide between the sausages or pork belly so Debbie said the chef/she would decide. The pork was delicious, beautifully cooked and presented. Spiced pear crumble rounded off a meal that i shouldn’t have had however i couldn’t stop! Comfortable bed, an in room continental breakfast with good bread, pastries, fruit etc. This is a great pub serving delicious food and the accommodation was super. For the price I could have stayed in a Premier Inn/Travelodge; no contest. I know where I’m staying next time I’m in the area. Thank you Debbie.

A beautiful pub with a very friendly, homely atmosphere, located in a lovely quaint village. The food was superb and the service was great. Great selection of wine’s and the husband says the Timothy Taylor is a massive hit… would definitely recommend.

A delightful pub set amongst lovely scenery. The room was spotless and beautifully equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay.. The bed comfy. And bathroom lovely. There was tea coffee orange juice cereal toast croissants in the room. Lots of jam. All was very well thought out. My only criticism and this had nothing to do with the room. Just a general observation. Is that maybe the outside furniture could do with an overhaul!! But apart from that nit picking. A lovely place to stay and explore

Booked a lunchtime meal. Arrived and stood around waiting for ages, was informed by people drinking at the bar, that a party of 12 had arrived and that there was only one person running the bar and restaurant. Whilst we were waiting other couples were turning up wanting a table only to be informed by the bar drinkers of the situation and the people then deciding to go elsewhere. Long waits for food which when arrived was mediocre.

A gem of a pub with rooms. We booked for a family birthday and had the most relaxing time in beautiful surroundings. The rooms were all lovely, welcoming, warm and well designed. The pub itself was superb - well kept Guinness and beer, fab wines, lovely food and a great atmosphere. We felt incredibly welcomed and enjoyed dinner on both nights. The owners and staff really couldn’t do enough for us. A few of the group had special dietary need (vegetarian and gluten free) and the team couldn’t have done more to cater for them - we were so impressed. A hidden gem, worth a drive and we’ll be back!

Just been to the Dovecote inn this afternoon for Lunch. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the owner was very welcoming. For anybody wanting proper home cooked food this pub is a little gem. Thank you for everything today, we will be returning again very shortly.
