The weather in September was awful, the sun shone for a total of 8 hours in a week, this cant be helped you would assume, but the Thomson Rep told us that the weather is always like this in September. I think its a disgrace that Thomson would sell a "beach holiday" in September when the season ends in August. The season end soon became very clear when every beach bar, bar, restaurant, shop & disco were "closed for the winter". The hotel itself was nice on appearance, very clean & tidy, the pool area would have been more than adequate if only the sun would come out. The hotel did not cater for its patrons when the weather was bad, the "animation team" just sat around only coming alive at night for what can only be described as dreadful performances night after night. The commumal bar was a thick fog of smoke with no ventilation and the food, on appearances looked ok, but on closer inspection were the same things re-heated in the evening that had been out all lunch time, also the salads & fruit were just stacked on top of each other & then put out again in the evening, I can however recommend the dishes that were prepared in front of you ie pancakes (breakfast) & pizza (evening meal). The sea was very rough, due to the weather, the beach was clean in front of the hotel, but clearly no-one looked after the rest of the beach as it was covered in cigarette butts & rubbish. Finally the only Thomson trip we went on was "shopping in Varna", well dont bother, we'd seen everything we needed to see by midday, we weren't picked up until 4.30, so spend 4 hours very bored.

This is the noisiest hotel we have ever stayed at and the epicentre is situated in the main restaurant. The cause? Waiters with trolleys full of glasses and dishes pushed the whole length of the room over a tiled floor, so we tried the speciality restaurant which served Bulgarian food, but to no avail and twice as many kids. Canteens would be a better description. I have to say the animation team was the best we have ever come across. Very energetic(noisy) and well organised throughout the day. I can’t tell you what the evening entertainment was like as we did not go, we prefer to limit European entertainment to one evening a year! The beach and sea are excellent, little salt in the water and the beach is patrolled by numerous lifeguards. However, watch out for the occasional Bulgarian male ‘naturist’ not a pretty sight. A short walk down the beach is the Bulgarian resort of Obzor, busy and authentic well worth the walk, oh, and beer to die for 40p a glass!!! The main problem with this hotel is management or rather Bulgarian management. As yet their levels of service fall short of what the rest of Europe expects and I would have thought that a German owned hotel would have trained the staff to a much higher standard.

I am very upset today Friday 6 Aug 2021 . I am in HVD Hotel Obzor. The Ship Restaurant from HVD Hotel Obor ruined my lunch. We waited a lot for a fish soup . The soup had a little skin of fish in it . I payed a lot of money to this holyday and this is no respect for me and my Family. I am very desepointed! Don't try this restaurant!

We are so excited that we discoveted this amazing hotel. Everything is great: the location, the beach, the pools, the restaurants. People are friendly and kind, they do all their best to make clients feel very good. The food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) is the best. The animation( entertainment) team is absolutely amazing. We met the entire staff and we are very gratefull for this. They are all so friendly, funny and gentle. Many activities and competitions for adults and for kids so much fun - Magi, Svetlin, Didi, Ilyana, Andi, Deni, Svetlana you are doing a perfect job there. We love you guys. The whole experience in this complex was so good the attentative staff in all departments especially the George in the Blu restaurant made me feel special Facilities and foot is top of the list with presentation perfect

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. You can get a sunbed round the pools and on the beach at any point of the day. The beach is beautiful and lifeguarded. The beach bar is a bonus to get a cool drink at anytime. The main pool always has an array of activities ran by the animation team, who worked hard and were professional and kind. I did not like the toilets by the pool/ beach as they stunk of urine. This is because there were 'open' bins. This could be easily fixed by having bins that had lids on. They were cleaned often though. There was a good selection of food in the restaurants. Breakfast was good and a much calmer atmosphere than in the evening. I did found that at times the food was warm, rather than hot; this was in the main restaurant and in the pool bar. You should defiantly book into the Italian and the ship restaurant. The food was lovely and service was spot on. The entertainment in the evening was good. Lots of dance shows, a magician, and a beach party with fireworks. I found that the room was a good size and the mini bar was replenished daily. However, the room was not cleaned for the week I was there, only replenished with toiletries and the duvet made. I had a late flight so I used the Spa to freshen up after a day by the pool. The staff I encountered were polite, friendly, and worked hard. I would return to this hotel. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and well looked after.

Dirty bathroom, very cold pools including kids pool, bad food, lift not working, very noisy air condition, very hard beds, no wi-fi, spa not working. Got a sick stomach from uncooked sausage.

What a wonderful experience. I can't thank this hotel enough for helping me celebrate my 40th birthday with my beautiful son. From the Entertainment team with Diana's amazing language skills, Iliyana's, Svetlana's, Svetlin's, Deni's and Andy's passion to make my son have the best memories with their playful skills in the day and dance skills at night. To the amazing Bar staff led by Ivan. It was a joy to see the skill and service provided daily by Hristo, Jason, Vasil, Artyom and Lsyusha to name a few. Everyone was so friendly. The food at the buffet and all three restaurants was outstanding with a shout out going to the Italian. The Blu. The hotel is great for accessibility and kept well. Fantastic cleanliness in the room, beach and pool areas. I had to finish with my wow experience of the beach party, with its music, fire entertainment and fireworks which made our holiday. I can't wait to visit again. Thank you
