Firstly, the staff were very friendly and nice to meet.
The hotel is quite basic which is fine but my only irritation is how badly the floors creak.
I was woken up by the creaking floors from next door from 7am.
I understand this can sound fussy but it really is an issue, I wore ear plugs but I could still hear the sound of the floors creaking.
Other than that we had a pleasant stay.

Used this as a last minute stay, due to the location being close enough to the Brecon Beacons to get there in the morning. It did the job as far as we had a room with beds to sleep in for the night. The hotel in general is quite dated, but clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful. Didn't try the food so can't comment on it. Unfortunately there were a few things that weren't great. The door didn't have a lock the worked and the safety chain was missing. The floor in every room is incredibly creaky, so if anyone is moving around in their room you can hear it, making sleeping difficult. The doors all slam shut which very disturbing when guests come back to their rooms late.

Unfortunately I’m having to right this review as the problem was not resolved after multiple contact with the hotel. At 4 in the morning I felt itchy under my arm ( thankfully I turned on the light to check what was the cause… infestation of bed bugs!!!! I called reception immediately and they promptly moved me to the next room, however all we could hear was noise from the previous room, obviously they were moving the furniture around to asses the situation. Already feeling uncomfortable with what later I found to be multiple bites on me and my partner we could not settle as constant noise till around 7:30 in the morning. I was given no alternative option, no refund, nothing. I got a light sorry when I went to hand my key card in. I’ve been in contact multiple times, I’ve not been rude I’ve been extremely calm considering this awful experience. I didn’t want to do this review as I wanted to give the hotel a chance to resolve this however there has been no contact made whatsoever. If by 24 hours I’m contacted either through *********** or on trip advisor with a solution to this then I will happy delete this review.

Hotel was nice and clean and the staff were very attentive. The only issue we had was no hot water in bath or basin but shower was lovely and hot. The issue was dealt with very efficiently by staff as soon as we told them. Breakfast was very good value at just £7.50 pp which included cooked breakfast, toast, cereal, juice plus unlimited tea and coffee.

On a positive note the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. However, the room was so cold as the radiator hadn’t been put on The bed was lumpy and not comfortable. We were kept awake by someone in the room above pacing up and down whilst on the phone and the floorboards creaked Sadly, the hotel is in need of updating . It looks dated and shabby. Ending on a positive it was really clean, sheets bathroom etc It’s just a bit sad as I stayed there a few years ago and it was much better

We visited for a Sunday carvery, which had been recommended to us by a couple of different people. The first thing to say is the restaurant area was quite dated. Where we were sat was in a partitioned area, the partition being an old fashioned, strange looking wood and glass structure. The tables in that area are a bit too close together too. I had pork and turkey, which was pretty good. Unfortunately the veg was way overcooked. Also, I noticed that when freshly prepared veg was brought through it was dumped on top of the veg that was already there. £32.80 for two standard carveries and two pints of lime cordial is a bit too much considering what we were getting. Very disappointing.

I would rather stay in a shelter than here! the beds are falling apart, the mattresses are very uncomfortable the springs are awful, the floors are sticky and very stained, everything was very dated like from a 3rd hand shop and to top it off we had BEDBUGS!! We left at 2am with no with no where to go we had to sleep in the car! There was no apology from the night staff we were just told to write a note down for the morning staff…. The supervisor was very helpful in the morning with regards to our issues and he was very apologetic still not ideal having to sleep in a car and ruining a weekend break with family.

My experience of the Bessemer hotel for a 4 night stay On booking in to the hotel I was informed that there was no key cards for the doors as there was an issue with the machine & we would have to be let in by a member of staff & that an engineer was booked to sort it , when we got to our room we found not clean , stains on the walls , bed was broken, a chair was broken , very antiquated and the noise from the kitchen . At 9 o'clock at night the noise that came from room 202 was absolutely horrendous so I went to reception to complain who did ring the room but never went up to the room so at 10 o'clock whilst the noise was still going we packed and went down to reception who informed us they was fully booked so could do nothing else for us so we booked out on the same day .we did try to find another place to stay in the valleys but all was fully booked due to something going on in the area whitch meant we had no option but to make a 6 hr journey back home to Norfolk the same day .and our holiday completely ruined I would strongly advise keeping clear of the Bessemer hotel it in serious need of a complete make over ,

I had bigger expectations for this hotel, but it turned out to be highly overrated. Upon entering the room, I was greeted by a rotting (& nauseating) smell, which turned out to be coming from the shower curtain. The floors creaked so loudly that it not only disturbed us when walking in the room, but also every time someone walked down the hallway. The bed linens were torn, the bedside lamp was missing a bulb, the walls were cracked here and there, and the peephole on the room door was stuffed with a tissue paper. The bed base was in tatters, and to top it all off, I suspect there were bedbugs in room 213 based on the bites I received. The pictures speak for themselves. Overall, the hotel is completely outdated. Although it wasn't expensive, I expected better for the price. Additionally, there was no alternative milk option at the breakfast, which was an extra charge, despite informing them during pre-check-in that two of our group members are lactose intolerant. Instead of decent coffee, they only offered instant Nescafé powder. I would not recommend staying here.
Hiking in the hills.
