Stayed for a few nights over the summer. Varley House was great value for the area, the room was a good size, the bathroom was nice, everything was clean and tidy. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. And it's a lovely part of the Country. Highly recommended.

Another fab stay here. So welcoming and breakfast is lush, lots of choice and all freshly cooked. Very helpful on places to visit and great they had various things in lounge to do, puzzkes and lego in a toy box Would highly recommend

We had a great trip to Varley house. From the warm welcome, to the spacious room and the brilliant breakfast. Rod and Helen were brilliant hosts and were able to recommend lots of local places to go to with our toddler. The room was large and spacious and extremely clean on arrival. They made sure we had a travel cot and contacted us beforehand to let us know they would provide one which was great as there wasn’t much space in the car for one. They also made sure we had a mini fridge in the room to store milk for our toddler which was a great bonus. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and they were very attentive. There was continental breakfast to help yourself too, we particularly enjoyed the range of cereals and our little one loved the pastries which were all fresh. There was a guest lounge which was great to relax in and lots of games in the cupboard, jigsaw puzzles to do on a table and children’s toys like Lego which our little one loved. We would 100% recommend Varley house and had a great stay there.

What a lovely stay! A warm welcome from Rod, and we were immediately impressed with this gem of a hotel. Very comfy bed, spacious room with nice bathroom. Breakfast was great. It's a quiet area within walking distance of the town. It has a sitting room, dining room and bar area. We were walking the South West coast path, so a perfect night and good breakfast before walking the Ilfracombe- Woolacombe stretch

I love Varley house . Located on a hillside, 10 min walk from centre of town. Easy parking. Well appointed comfortable rooms, with all that is needed. Knowledgeable and welcoming local owner : always ready to help and be flexible with arrangements. Decent breakfasts. Good price

Everything excellent for our imminent stay on Lundy. Great to be able to leave the car there. We just gave a donation to the RNLI. Great breakfast and service all round. Good facilities and comfy bed.

The second time I have stayed at Varley House, and I'm sure I will be returning again! Both times have been before and/or after a trip to Lundy. The place is situated perfectly for this, just a short walk away from Ilfracombe Harbour, and ideal that the vehicle can be left there for the duration of the trip on Lundy too. Rod is a fantastic host, and I'm sure we'll be back again next year :-)

We have stayed at Varley House a number of times over the years and as usual we were greeted warmly, the room was spotless and breakfast was its usual high standard. The town is within easy walking distance, albeit uphill on the way back, but that gives you the splendid views from the house. On street parking nearby was not a problem.

The hotel is in a good location up a hill and not far from the town centre. It has easy on street parking. Our room was a decent size and clean and comfortable. Our hosts were very welcoming and gave plenty of local advice. The breakfast was excellent. We would stay here again.

Varley House truly is a great little hotel in the best traditions of British guest house hospitality. Enjoying a semi-elevated position slightly removed. while easily walkable, from Ilfracombe town centre, its upper floor commands enviable sea views. Characterfully furnished and comfortable in every important respect, it is efficiently and pleasantly managed by Rod and Helen, who do everything to ensure their guests a pleasant stay. The breakfast is excellent in terms both of choice and quality.
