It is worth noting that an argument takes two people to orchestrate - If you deemed our manager argumentative, perhaps it is worth recognizing the part you and your wife played in escalating the situation. However, for anyone who reads this, allow us to shed some light on the situation: You were asked for proof of payment because, as you noted, your booking was made in 2019, SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC - since then, bookings were cancelled/migrated/modified etc. by prospective guests and various booking agents, so there is a chance somewhere in that mess, records might not line up. In any event, your booking was honoured at its original price (which you may note is significantly lower than the one today). The reason you were asked to leave was, after attempting to explain the situation as above (which was made exponentially more difficult by the fact you and your wife incessantly shouted over our manager and each other) you were shouting so loudly in the office that half of the guests in the building actually came downstairs to see what the commotion was about. This is in addition to repeatedly slamming the office desk (for what reason, we am unsure), and failing to understand the situation above and that we do not keep records of transactions past a certain length. As for your refund, since you were adamant that you had paid, refunding you was not 'miraculous' but rather us essentially paying you £122.50 to leave. Frankly, as a private business we are not at liberty to explain/discuss these things, but since you are clearly adamant you are in the right. it seems necessary to enlighten others who may or may not take time to note your 'experience' with us.

You also seem to have negated to read key signs which are there for the convenience of our guests .Further more it is only common sense to understand that rules and regulations are there for a reason !Like going into the KITCHEN ? On arrival we were met by Joy who gave us a cheerful welcome and checked us in. Our room (5) was on the second floor at the rear. It was of good size and spotlessly clean. The en-suite was also of good size and shape. The bed was very comfortable. We noted that, in addition to all the usual, there was a hair dryer and a mini fridge, if required, available in the wardrobe. Location was good, opposite the Devonshire Theatre and very convenient for the "Magic Motors" Car Show that we were attending. Rather than waste time searching for on street parking, we used Trinity Multi-storey. Just five minutes walk away. We hope to attend the car show again next year and The Berkeley will be our first call for accommodation.

I stayed at this guest house as I was going to a concert at the Congress Theatre which is just around the corner, a "stone's throw away." It is also very close to the sea front. I had a lovely room on the top floor, although it was a little noisy as you could hear everything that was going on in the street below. The only downside was that I'd booked to have breakfast, but was told they weren't doing breakfast, so was refunded the balance, and when I asked for recommendations on a place to have breakfast, they kindly obliged and recommended a nice place nearby. They also provided me with extra sachets of tea and milk, as I drink a lot of tea, but not coffee, so I felt I was looked after. Will likely return next time I come to see a shiw in Eastbourne.

What a lovely stay! The room was in a traditional style and very clean. Beds were comfortable and shower was hot. Full English breakfast was delicious. Thank you Joy for a fabulous stay; we look forward to visiting again. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting the Winter Gardens, as it’s a 2 minute walk to the venue.

This was my second stay and I am sure not the last. Joy and Russell are so friendly and they make sure your stay in Eastbourne is a memorable one. The breakfast is amazing and the place is always clean
