We have visited this hotel several times when the previous owners ran it and were always impressed with its 'old world charm'. We were a little apprehensive upon hearing that there were new owners who were doing 'some re-furbishments'. We need not have worried. Although these are not yet complete, there is every sign that great attention to detail has been made and the changes, for the most part, are working well. The staff, as always, were very welcoming and proficient at their jobs. The food was very good and the room very comfy. Our DBB package was good value. Just a couple of negatives - which was why it did not get 5 stars. 1. The new duvets (which were very proudly pointed out to us) are very large and deep which is not to our taste at all - we were wrestling with it all night. The pillows in contrast were very thin. 2. There was no sign of the pre-dinner canapes which used to be served - and were always delicious. 3. The breakfast - which was very good - used packaged orange juice instead of fresh. 4. When the en-suite bathrooms are undergoing renovations, there should be more provision for guests own toiletries etc.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Apperley suite. The hotel is being refurbished at the moment. The suite we were in needs some tlc now. I was disappointed that there was no fridge in the suite as described on the Web page. All that said we loved this hotel and its staff the food was brilliant the service 2nd to none. We had the most peaceful weekend. We will return. Thank you all.

We had dinner, bed and breakfast at this country house for a special occasion. The staff were very accommodating, efficient and friendly. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and we had a huge suite. The restaurant food was excellent, beautifully presented and tasty. Highly recommended. A good range of choice for breakfast too. Looking forward to returning as the refurbishment progresses.

We had a lovely afternoon tea today at the Corse Lawn, infront of the open fire. Also, the staff were wonderful. We will definitely be returning!

We booked a standard room and were delighted to be upgraded to a Superior room, which was spacious, comfortable and a real treat. While the furnishings are slightly worn in places, all rooms are due to be refurbished very soon, which should elevate the experience even further. The en-suite bathroom was excellent, with a huge bath as well as a shower. Complimentary tea and coffee were provided, with the La Monde coffee bags being a particularly nice touch. We ate dinner in the restaurant and were genuinely impressed — the sea bass and pheasant were both excellent and beautifully cooked. Breakfast the following morning was also very good, with plenty of choice and good quality throughout. The hotel may once have had a fairly average reputation, but under new ownership it’s clear that investment and care are already making a noticeable difference. A special mention to Jo on reception, although all the staff were friendly, welcoming and clearly proud of the hotel. Overall, it feels like a hotel going from strength to strength, and we would be very happy to return.

This Grand Old House Hotel is the very essence of British hospitality and charm. OK, the hotel needs a refurb (and thats happening)but that did not detract from its quality. The staff to a man and woman were so helpful and polite and made the stay special. Alison on reception was an font of information, not only concerning the hotel but also of the greater area. We learnt much from her about our visits to the regional towns etc. We did not meet Mrs Hine, such a shame, she had just retired from the hotel.. we wish her a long and happy retirement. The food was superb, breakfast was plentiful and very tasty and the evening dinners used hugh quality ingredients. Service to the table was slick and friendly. All in all a super visit to the Cotswolds. Porscheboy recommends this hotel highly.

The Hotel is a really lovely place, full of character and very nicely furnished. The bedrooms are beautiful, large and well furnished with lovely views. Dinner was delicious, and the breakfasts a great start the day. The staff were exceptional; friendly, helpful, and made our stay so wonderful and relaxing, that we stayed an extra day. A perfect, relaxing and luxurious treat, and we would love to come back again.
