Overrated hotel
This hotel is over rated. Well beyond its best before date. Needs to be updated and maintained. Lights out in bathroom, door to shower cabinet broken. Towel from previous guest stilm in bathroom. Simple breakfast and slow service of hot plate.

Property badly in need of renovation. 1st morning breakfast-tables not cleared. Breakfast Bacon overcooked and not enough butter provided. Unacceptable Noise from Bar below (Room 1).

Non existent stay
I cannot do this as despite booking and paying for three rooms for a family wedding nearby in March 2025, I was given 48 hours notice that the hotel could not accommodate two of the rooms. The staff were not at all helpful when I phoned them. Didn’t seem to care that this was causing a lot of anxiety and stress. I was told my booking was on ‘the old’ system as the hotel has changed hands. When the one party member checked in I found the staff not very welcoming at all. No smiling welcome. Very laid back about the whole thing.

The hotel has gone downhill since changing hands. The breakfast food was cold and the eggs were overcooked. I had salmon for breakfast purporting to be fresh from Portsoy but it certainly didn’t look like it. It meant that we were no way going to eat in the hotel for our evening meal. The cleaning standards were very poor. The carpet on stairs looked like they’d never been hoovered for a good while and window ledges were dirty.
The bed was actually comfortable and clean however.
I was so very disappointed with the hotel

Slept well and pretty good breakfast at a good price. But.... In dire need of modernisation. Although clean enough, attention to detail is absent and strange choices have been made. Rooms need a daily check and if things aren't right, they need to be fixed. A shower door that doesn't close properly, cables crossing behind the TV causing interference, sitting the breakfast area miles away from the rooms and being surprised when guests sit in the dinner area which they come to first instead. And the signs. Handwritten tatty signs are everywhere. The staff are either inexperienced or don't care.
Having said all that, the locals seem to use the place and were welcoming in the bar where a couple of staff also spent the evening. We found out that the hotel has recently been taken over by a hotel group so I suspect changes will be made once they gear up and it may well be a different place soon. But I can only review what we experienced and wish everyone well for future success as it's a hard business to make work and changing / modernising the offer here will take time, energy and a lot of money. But the bones of decent accommodation may well be enough to build on. Good luck to all concerned.

我们一家人在这家酒店住了一晚。我们选择这家酒店是因为它的位置和顾客评价。评论也给了我们信心。但当我们发现房间时,却大失所望。房间没有打扫过:卧室地毯上、浴室地板上、水槽里,甚至淋浴间里都有很多头发。
幸好床上用品干净舒适。不过,食物还不错。
早餐太糟糕了,等了一个多小时才送到,而且送到的时候已经煮过头了,而且没有味道!工作人员对此情况感到困惑并抱怨……
总而言之,这是一次愉快的住宿,工作人员也很愉快!
