The Pheasant is an absolute gem of a place. A pub, hotel and venue offering top-end food and accommodation in the rolling Cheshire countryside. With outstanding views over the Cheshire plain, The Pheasant is the perfect spot to either watch the sun go down out on the terrace or kick back with a pint of Spitting Feathers plumb & raisin porter amongst the oak-beamed splendour of the cosy interior. Marvellous!

We visited The Pheasant Inn this evening for a family meal and were very disappointed with the level of service we received. There were extremely long delays between our main course and dessert, despite two guests in our party asking staff on more than one occasion to chase up our order. When we did raise this, we were given little explanation, and at one point the server behind the bar appeared to be on her phone, which was frustrating given the situation. What made it more disappointing was that tables around us, who arrived after we did, were served ahead of us. With three children in our party, the delay led to upset and frustrated children, which could have been avoided with better communication or basic customer care. No apology or compensation was offered for the poor service. This experience was especially disappointing as we are returning guests. We had a lovely meal here back in Autumn and, based on that visit, recommended The Pheasant Inn to our family. We chose it for a Christmas get-together for a party of nine, expecting the same standard as before, but unfortunately it fell well short. We hope this feedback is taken on board, as we know from past experience that the venue can do much better.

We love The Pheasant, we live locally and have stayed on a few occasions. This time we stayed with friends, which was very enjoyable. We took advantage of the dinner, B&B offer, with £30 towards your evening meal it was excellent value. Our room was fabulous, situated inside above the bar/restaurant and with fabulous views of Chester and North Wales. The bed was enormous, super comfy with quality linens, the storage space more than ample, the wallpaper stylishly and decadent and the bathroom with separate bath and large shower, a proper place for a pamper. We can only comment on our meals which were fine if a little bland: the salmon was delicious however the ravioli a touch under seasoned, our main courses were much the same, turkey and salmon, both ok if a touch lacking in flavour, the cheeseboard to finish was however very good. The breakfasts the next morning were excellent, a good continental selection followed by a tasty omelette and avocado on sourdough with poached eggs, set us up perfectly for the day ahead. The only reason we have taken two blobs off was in relation to a comment made when we checked out. Both couples paid for the rooms when we checked in and all food and beverages were put on our room which made it easier. The young lady who checked us out on the morning of the 12th Dec, made, what we felt was an inappropriate sneering comment that ‘all that was on the bill was drinks’. How we spend our money is entirely up to us and when you consider that the ‘drinks’ bill was for 4 people, we did not feel it was in any way excessive, which we felt she implied. This tarnished what had been a wonderful stay. However we will definitely return.

We booked for a 1 night stay in a Superior King Room which was excellent. Comfy bed and quality furnishings. Evening meal was included in the deal and food was good quality pub fayre. The restaurant was very atmospheric and set up for Xmas. Breakfast was equally good and we had very good service from Matty. So very happy guests and we will return.

Stayed here for the night for my birthday. What a beautiful place, staff were so lovely and friendly, food excellent and the room was so comfortable, clean and modern. The tea tray provided was well stocked and lovely products provided in the bathroom. Would highly recommend a trip here, just beautiful.

Lovely restaurant over looking the plains of Cheshire. Best to use sat nav to locate, but it’s an easy drive. Well worth putting in the effort.

A superb night away from home in a beautiful area. The Pheasant is immaculately maintained. The rooms are stylish and scrupulously clean. The restaurants, again, are beautifully decorated and the food is perfect. Staff are all friendly, polite and generally lovely. I can’t recommend this place too highly.

We had a room in the barn which was well decorated and claen and tidy. Had dinner in the pub which was lovely, service was a little slow but we were in no rush so it was fine. The location is perfect, with stunning views but only a short distance from Chester Zoo. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area
