We had a overnight stay in this beautiful old pub/hotel. Very cosy especially this time of the year. We had a superior room which was lovely, the biggest bath I've been in. Breakfast was nice but a limited choice. We stayed on a Friday night and maybe this in conjuction with work parties made it very noisy until early so we had to keep the windows closed.

I recently stayed at the Blue Boar hotel for 2 nights and was very impressed. The staff were increcdible and worked very hard ensuring eveyrthing we needed was catered for. The hotel itself was very beautiful inside, especially with the added Christmas decorations! All of our rooms were beautifally decorated, nice powerful showers and a very comfy bed which was kept clean. They also provided both a fan and a heater in the room if needed. The onsite parking was great and it felt very secure. The hotel is in a lovely town with some great restaurants to eat at and even provided ear plugs in case the road was too noisy - the noise however was not a problem.

Parking - sneaky parking signage and only 10 minutes to pay to park or a £100 fine reduce to £60 if paid in 14 days. What sort of hotel does this to guests? It’s not clear public can use the car part till 5 and pay but after 5 you must register within 10 min and be a customer of the hotel - the wording is ambiguous for public parking and clearly set out to catch you out - the annoying thing is I was in the damn hotel also. What a joke.

A great place to stay in Maldon with an excellent English breakfast. The pub has a great variety of brewed on site beers and Chloe, manageress(?) provided the best customer service with a smile every day. I will stay here again next time I am in Maldon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel - full of character. Reception staff were cheerful and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Changed our room - no problem - when we explained that we would have a problem with the step up into the bathroom due to a recent accident - room was clean and bed comfortable. The bars next door were buzzing as you would expect on a Friday night. Breakfast was freshly cooked and good quality. Definitely recommend.

Well, here is the dilemma. This hotel and its town are amazing, the catch 22 situation is that the more positive reviews that are given, the harder it will be to book. BUT, it deserves all the credit gets. As soon as you arrive you know this town/hotel are special. A lovely, medieval town surrounded history. Right in the middle of Maldon, everything on hand. The hotel itself has parking (pay if you are not a resident) a lovely two area pub with traditional ales and lagers. We stayed in the annexe room, slightly more expensive but well worth the space. It feels like it is family run as the staff are so attentive and full of customer care. Accommodation (annexe) consists of a cosy downstairs area with bathroom and upstairs is the sleeping area. Heat pump keeps the place lovely and warm (Oct). “Tap Room” full of traditional ales. Gentleman in the pub full of local information. Breakfast was a delight as was the whole stay. Booked again in a few weeks, 3rd stay in 2 months, says it all really. Well, well, well recommended. Thank you all🙏🙏🙏
