Staff not feeling friendly. Nothing welcoming about demeanor.
Room felt unclean, possibly due to very dated furnishings and stained shower floor. Ceiling above shower was peeling. Bed linens, ugh! And the smoked glass panel that ran the length of the space behind the bed felt very much like a one way mirror…super creepy. Room did not match online photos. Cost was too high at any price

I was extremely pleased with my stay at the Microtel in Ames. It was much cleaner, nicer, and quieter than any of the similarly priced hotels where I've stayed in the area. I was especially pleased with the service I received when I checked in. The heating system in my room was not functioning, which I understand can happen. After making a quick check to see if he could fix it, the desk clerk immediately and happily assigned me another, nearby room. He brought me a new key card, waited while I unloaded my bags from the bell cart, and took the cart back to the lobby for me. Kudos!

Hotel looks tired. Our bathroom was clean, but looked dingy and old. Carpet in hallway and elevator looked dirty and worn. Configuration of bathroom in our room was cramped. Breakfast was pretty limited. Service was fine, shower and mattress were fine.

The door latch was missing half of the plate. The televisions was hung crooked on the wall. The bathtub was in need of a very good cleaning. While the surface was. Clean. The edges a floor showed signs of embedded dirt.
