I had a very disappointing and distressing experience staying here. I travelled with my 9-year-old child and a friend, and from the moment we arrived things felt unsafe and poorly managed. The front doors were not working properly, and staff were openly complaining about safety issues, which immediately made us feel uneasy. At around 3am, I needed to go to my car to get medication. I was told someone would be on reception, but there was nobody there and the doors were locked, making it very difficult to get out. This was extremely concerning, especially in the middle of the night. There was significant noise from a group of men causing disturbance from around 3am. Then at approximately 5am we were evacuated due to the situation. We were left sitting outside with alarms going off and had to wait for the police to arrive. This was incredibly distressing for all of us, particularly the 9-year-old child with us. Overall, the lack of security, poor organisation, and the way the situation was handled made this a very upsetting experience. I would not feel comfortable staying here again.

We booked this hotel as a special birthday treat for a child, but the experience was completely unacceptable. We were woken at 3am by shouting and banging, then forced to evacuate at 5am when the fire alarm went off and police attended, with arrests made in front of guests — the child was extremely distressed and we left at 5:30am. With broken or unsecured doors, no visible staff, and paid WiFi that didn’t work, this stay fell far below basic standards of safety and care.

1st time staying at Travelodge. Easy to find, friendly receptionist, acceptable room and reasonable value. Unfortunately a disturbance from midnight to 2am on our floor with men running up and down, shouting, broken crockery in reception and by lifts. Very concerned for my daughters safety who went down to report the disturbance at reception. We were told at 1am if it carried on, they would call the police, but that didn’t seem to happen. The men then carried on the noise in the car park, but eventually left the car park and walked away at 2am. We got very little sleep from our 1 night stay. We have however since received a part refund of our stay after complaining when we checked out ! Not brilliant but at least something for our poor experience.

Hit and miss. Arrived mid afternoon, waited, and waited, and waited for some to arrive to check me in. Appreciate they were doing something else and had a sign out, but no apology when the did arrive. Checked me in but didn’t acknowledge I had breakfast included, no advising of breakfast times either. I was advised of my room and how to locate it. It was quite random that they were wearing yellow gloves, apologies if it was a medical condition but just seems rather weird. Room, nice and big, yes I had booked a family room as staying for a few days, but booking was for one person, I didn’t need the two camp beds made up and they just took over the room so what should have been a spacious area ended up with stubbing toes on the extra beds when getting in or out of the main bed. Thinking about it, I should have tried the camp beds as the main bed was awful, not at all comfortable so didn’t have a great sleep. Breakfast…..well, yes there was a sign that said wait to be seated, again I waited, and waited, and waited so another guest also waiting and myself went through and started to get our drinks and food (what little there was as most of the hot offering dishes were empty). Just about to find a seat and was berated for not waiting by a surly member of staff! Umm, sorry, where were you? You weren’t filling the dishes up and we had waited ages, some of us had to get on the road for work! Check out was the finale, said surly never of staff and a female behind reception chatting away, I came to drop key and didn’t get acknowledged so dropped it in the ‘drop box’ and as walking out the door got an abrupt ‘Thank you then’ Sorry live but you had your back to the front door and were chatting, if you weren’t polite enough to acknowledge me why should I thank you? I was brought up not to interrupt people when they are talking. Not the best visit, but not the worst so had to mark down the middle.

My husband. Myself and our dog arrived on Thursday. We had no heating and after complaining we were told there was nothing that they could do as the hotel was full. There were no drinking glasses, bath mat and very little tea and milk. The carpet in our room was disgusting glad we bought our slipper!!! We will not be coming back ever Awlful for the amount of money we had spent to stay there

We called last minute as we were running out of time and energy! Great price and when we arrived we were really pleased to see it was a very modern hotel and easy to find from the motorway. Lovely new hotel with friendly staff lovely clean spacious room and bathroom. The hotel also had a good stocked bar with a seating area where you could have hot food and snacks and breakfast if you wish. It has to be one of the best Travel Lodges we have stayed in and we just happened to come across it as we were running out of steam and needed a room for the night. It will be on our list of places to stay when we are next down this area of the country. To add to the mix is that across the Car park is a new Pub/ restraunt which had lots of customers and in fact as it was a Saturday night fully booked so obviously had a good reputation.

We stayed in a standard travel lodge room which had we not had our rather large dog with us would have been fit for purpose. As it was there was no room for her to get comfortable without being in someone’s way poor thing. The carpet was very stained and the bathroom shower curtain had blood on it. The towels provided were grey to say the least and rather threadbare to the extent we bought towels from a local supermarket, but I digress. The reason we picked this particular hotel was the fact that it was dog friendly what was not stated is the hotel itself is dog friendly but not the bar or restaurant so we had to eat in the Marstons pub across the way. (We were glad that we had not booked breakfast as we would have had to take turns to eat). We could see no logical reason why dogs were not allowed in the small bar area and during our 3 nights stay we saw only a handful of people using it. The pub across the car park whilst being dog friendly also had a food rating of 5 stars so surely a hotel that classed itself as dog friendly could allow dogs in the majority of areas and still achieve the same. The majority of staff were friendly and helpful with just a few who obviously thought you an inconvenience This is not a hotel we would recommend or indeed return to.
