Staff was great. The building was old with the sound of pigeons cooing me to sleep from the window ledge. The continental breakfast was acceptable. If you want fancy and neat. This in not for you. If you want a building, staff, and neighborhood with character, plus a little southern charm thrown in. This is the experience waiting for you. Remember to watch the barges and tugs lock through lock 19. Complete your adventure by visiting the 2nd hand store across the street. Then take your spoils from that store to the Antiques Roadshow to find out the what treasures you truly have 😉🤗

This was fine as hotels go, but I usually choose Quality because they're an affordable way to get a comfy bed and a nice breakfast. This place had very comfy beds, but the breakfast was disappointing. You can't call it a hot breakfast buffet just because you have a waffle iron. There was no protein for the breakfast at all, except what you can get out of oats and milk. No eggs, no sausage, no biscuits and gravy (which I mention because these are standard for the five other hotels I stayed at this week). Also, the pool was of course closed, but that's not what I came for. Otherwise, everything worked and it was a pleasant stay.
As an aside, this area was such a slum it reminded me of Hollow Knight. This isn't a complaint; it was quiet and fascinating. Spiderwebs everywhere. Anti-pigeon electrified barbed wire on the windowsills. Basically, if it can't be automatically maintained, it isn't maintained in Keokuk. The building was surrounded by abandoned, plant-eaten buildings that were interesting to walk by. The local Dollar General was like the behind-the-scenes, cutting room floor sort of area in a game where people just aren't intended to go. Half of the walking area was just store room, and the back door was sealed shut and encrusted with cobwebs. Keokuk, and this hotel, were a fine place to stay the night on our journey... but I wouldn't rave about either.

The floor was uncarpeted and filthy. The light in the bathroom would only work for 20 minutes. The next morning they said the would fix both, but they didn’t. The drapes fell down. We had to check out after two nights because of the filth.

Got there and they had over booked though we had reservations. They found a room that looked like it was under construction as it had dirtiness on floor that stuck to your feet. It also had a bed a tv and a fridge nothing else. It was late so we just slept and would deal with it in The morning. Breakfast was carbs. They had waffles, bread, bagels, cereal, yogurt and oatmeal. We asked for another room as ours was subpar. The new room had funiture but A/C didn’t work great so it was warm all night. The next day found hair stuck to wall in shower next to an old hairy bar of soap. At this point we just gave up! Will not be staying here again.

The staff was very very friendly. And I understand that there is a transition happening. Our room's bathtub was not cleaned, there was numerous hairs in the tub. The outside windows were full of cobwebs and very dirty. The bed was very comfortable. I would still stay here again because I know the staff is working hard with the upgrades. Good and safe location.

I had a terrible time just trying to reach them to pre-sign in. I wasn't able to get there until 1 am. The room they gave me was completely unclean with the TV on and towels everywhere plus beds still dirty and undone from the previous occupant. Had to go back down to the front desk, track someone down and finally get another room.... what a chaotic mess. Not very welcoming when I was exhausted to begin with and only wanting a nice clean bed to sleep in. Breakfast was minimal cold food and make your own waffles so I went to a fast food place to eat breakfast.
