Your feedback is invaluable, and we sincerely apologise for the numerous issues you encountered during your visit. We regret that the swimming pool and jacuzzi were unavailable during your stay. As stated on our website, affiliates, and in email updates sent to all bookings, the pool and jacuzzi are still undergoing refurbishment. We understand this may have caused some frustration, and we apologise for the delay in completing the works. However, our sauna and gymnasium remain available for guests to enjoy. And we can confirm that it was the steam room, not the sauna that was out of service. This is being addressed to ensure all amenities are fully operational. Regarding the in-room issues, we apologise for the confusion with the electrical system and any inconvenience caused. Please note that replacement irons and ironing boards are available on request, and we are sorry for any trouble the collapsing board may have caused. Additionally, extra tea, milk, and other essentials are available in the communal area at reception or can be brought to your room upon request. For snacks and drinks, we also have an onsite bar that serves a selection of items. We understand that the lack of certain amenities added to your disappointment. We appreciate your feedback and will explore options to improve our in-room facilities and make stays more comfortable for our guests. It’s also unfortunate that your experience at the pub did not align with your expectations. We will take your comments on board to ensure a more balanced and comfortable atmosphere for all our guests. Stayed here as was attending a birthday party. The room for the party was lovely. Room - in desperate need of a make over. Very very tired. Spacious room and clean but certainly not comfortable or an enjoyable stay. Stains on all the furniture. Bathroom gritty. Breakfast I can honestly say it was the worst I have ever had. The sausage were the cheapest on the market. It came with very pale scrambled egg no choice in egg, hash brown was a weird colour inside. We left practically everything This place needs bulldozing

We are, however, sorry to learn of the issues you experienced with your room. Please do always raise any concerns with a member of staff during your stay, as we are more than happy to rectify problems or provide an alternative room where necessary. Regarding breakfast, no concerns were raised with our staff or chef on the day, and as with other matters, we encourage guests to let us know immediately so we can resolve the issue, whether that be remaking a meal or providing a replacement. Our priority is always to prevent guests from leaving dissatisfied. We also note that our receptionist, who spoke with you both on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, recalls positive feedback and enjoyment of the party, with no mention of the concerns you have now raised. Finally, while we respect your opinion, we feel the comment that “this place needs bulldozing” is unfair and not reflective of the experience shared by the majority of our guests.

Friendly staff /clean but very basic room / beds & duvet need’s replacing / breakfast good value for money./ Hall fire door at top of stairs when shutting banged shut and could be heard in our room every time it was closed apart from that noise level was good. / Atmosphere good

On parking the car I wasn’t looking forward to this stay given the tired look of the place. Inside is very old fashioned and decor tired. Book in was efficient. Room I upgraded and was huge, it was very clean and the bed comfy. Breakfast was random with a small number of tables for a lot of guest so needed to share. Coffee cold, fruit juice was cheap and ingredients at brekkie seemed cheap. I’d give it a miss and go to coffee lounge in idle next time. Overall better than I thought it was going to be.

Basic hotel but very clean and has everything you need for a short stay. The room was enormous. Very friendly staff. Couldn't get the WiFi to work but 4g signal was excellent so it didn't matter. We enjoyed the use of the pool and jacuzzi. Will be booking next year when we are in town for the Coolest Projects event again.

I wouldn't recommend this place for ANYONE to stay. Not even for 5 minutes! We paid for a a room that simply looked and felt like it hadn't been checked throughly since the 1930s! The fan in the bathroom was absolutely DISGUSTING! Mouldy and furry! Cracks in the ceiling, only ONE radiator worked which we reported and nothing got done about it. No tv signal, wifi etc. The iron didn't work. The taps in the bathroom were SHOCKING! the cold tap ran hot and the hot tap didn't run properly what so ever. We had HALF a shower door! Oil was leaking down the door. Be careful anyone who stays here when they do room checks..... they don't want you in the room whilst "cleaning your room" When they finished our room check, mt handbag was moved where I never even put it! Things were placed in my handbag and they had been through our drawers and place everything from our drawers onto the windowsill! They even put my BANK CARD on the windowsill! The staff make false allegations against you which i WILL be taking further. Please DO NOT STAY HERE!

We had a pleasant stay. The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were really spacious and clean although the bedroom and hotel would benefit from an update. The breakfast was a little disorganised but it was nice. We would stay again.

Cheap and cheerful. Room large and clean. Staff were helpful. Only disappointment was the lack of promised porridge oats in the light breakfast bags. Good value for the price

Wouldn’t recomend , booked my daughter a spa day , wasn’t informed untill paid for and arrived that steam and sauna was out of use, no lockers had locks so just had to leave valuables at own risk, the changing room and shower is grim, horrible unclean and very small, toilet area wasn’t clean eaither, they advertise as a spa and a bar however this is not the case what you see online isn’t what you get when you are there. Very disappointing , the chlorine was staining our eyes as soon as we entered this was reported to staff, there was some younger kids physically coughing and complaining of chest tightening due to the chlorine too, staff members didn’t have a clue about anything, very basic and un clean

Your access was redeemed using a voucher won at a local charity event, and as with all Day Passes, we do not take bookings in advance. Our Day Passes are operated strictly on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis. We do not advertise ourselves, either online, over the phone, or in person, as a luxury spa. We are a leisure centre with a saltwater pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and gymnasium, with The Highfield pub as a separate onsite bar. It is clearly stated online that our steam room is permanently closed. In relation to the sauna, it was out of use on the Saturday but was fully operational again by Sunday afternoon, meaning it was unavailable for no more than 24 hours. As no booking was made in advance, it was not possible to notify you of the temporary closure beforehand. It is also clear from your review that a large part of your dissatisfaction stems from not being allowed to take your cake and bottles of prosecco poolside. Not only is this against our strict no food or drink policy outside of reception and communal areas, but it also poses serious health and safety risks to both yourselves and other guests. You initially claimed this was “No-secco” (0% prosecco), but both staff and management confirmed that this was not the case. Regarding your concerns about chlorine, we can assure you that we are very strict with chemical management. Our jacuzzi is maintained at 7.4–7.6 pH and 3–4 ppm chlorine, and our pool at 7.4–7.6 pH and 2–3 ppm chlorine, all within safe and regulated levels. On the day of your visit, our leisure facilities were also used by 20 Day Pass guests, and many other hotel residents, and members without complaint. We do take all feedback seriously, but we feel it is important to provide clarity on how our facilities are operated and maintained, as well as to correct any misleading information.
