For this level of accommodation, it was great. The staff went out of their way to assist with a late check-in and we found the rooms to be large, clean and comfortable

At check-in no one was at the front desk. We had to call several times. The room was dirty. We found dead insect under covers. Others in bathroom and behind dresser.

While the staff was very friendly and welcoming and the room appeared clean, upon opening the dresser, there were roaches in every drawer. Went to the ice machine and there was the smell of urine. Needless to say i didn't get any ice.

Location to Skyline Drive entrance excellent. Friendly staff. Surprisingly roomy. Excellent shower. Plenty of towels. Updated but kept charm. Parked right in front of room door. Great price. Seats out front of room and nice field out back. Rainbow and lovely sunset were a bonus.

A last resort only
They don't answer "Cardinal Inn" - it's just 'Hello' so you may have to confirm that you have reached the right business. The place is extremely old, wall unit AC's, so be prepared for a noisy night. They told us not to steal linens when we checked in, and that if we did steal them, we'd be charged, though I can't imagine why anyone would steal them unless they were desperate for rags at the moment; the doors are flimsy, no weather ***** seals around them, so there is a huge gap around all edges of the entry door, would be very easy to break into the old key locks that are what one uses for bathroom/bedroom doors - not entry doors - the bed and pillows are extremely uncomfortable. My husband and I both had sore backs/necks, which was a real bummer as this was a work trip and we were exhausted for our job; the shower drained slow and didn't like like it had been thoroughly cleaned in who knows how long so you are aware that you are standing in the dirt of other people while showering; the hotel soap is crappy so def bring your own; the furniture is old and dingy; there are black out curtains but a lot of good they do when they don't sit close to the wall so all the light from the security lights that are every few feet outside shine brightly into the room; the internet goes in and out - even though they insist they've 'never had complaints before' sure, believe that if you want. This is right up there with the worst of hotels.
