I’m sorry to say, we will never stay here again. Technically we still haven’t stayed because after checking in and finding a dead small cockroach on the bathroom floor, the shower curtain rod nearly falling out of the wall on us, the robe hook dangling off the wall, and the ancient slider door cracked open and hard to close, we booked another hotel and asked for a refund before we left. I’m usually not one to complain or write a bad review, and the standard of where we might stay is generally average for what you would hope for after paying $278 for a room to be close to downtown Mystic, CT. However, this was unfortunately not a place we felt safe or comfortable staying. ******* was very helpful in assisting with filing my dispute and asking Howard Johnson for a full refund of our prepaid charge, but the man at the front desk was not helpful or at all apologetic. Whether we get the refund or not we were not staying there, and it was very inconvenient and unexpected based on the pictures. Don’t waste your money here.

Front desk person was lovely - we had issues with our keys but he was always helpful and attentive. Hotel is super convenient. Room was very clean but dated. AC was quiet and effective, hotel was nice and quiet overall. The bathroom had a leaky shower that didn’t stop running, a slipper floor in the tub that made you wonder how clean it was, and so much mildew mold in all the shower tub cracks - bathroom needs some renovation to get up back to even a basic accommodation level.

Location was the only great thing about this hotel. Bathroom light didn't work, main light switch was connected to TV power so turn the light off, turns TV off, light fixture broken and hanging from the wall, air conditioner sounded like a freight train, dried out apple core sitting on the air conditioner unit, Bathroom jacuzzi tub didn't drain quickly enough while showering so water collected and standing in water while showering, ran out of creamer at coffee station, had to request pool door to be unlocked well after the time it was supposed to be open.

It was horrible!!! Smelled so moldy! The bathroom in lobby was dirty. The rooms smelled like mold! Our slider door was locked by a homemade lock! We went to front desk and there was a sticky note with a phone number to call and then when you call it it is out of service! The door to enter building was not locked. Anyone could walk in!!! The place is awful!!! It wasn’t cheap either!!!

Hotel is very run down. As soon as you walk in the hall the stench is terrible. Each hallway has a new dirty smell. The pool looked so cloudy and gross we wouldn’t even let the kids swim in it. The room smelt clean and was better kept than the other places on property, but we were glad we were only spending the night. We found a dead bug in the bathroom and so much dust on the bathroom shelf. Tub looked dirty, so decided to skip the shower and wait til we were home. Needless to say we were out of there by 8:00 am the next morning because we were grossed out.

the hotel is conveniently located right off the highway. There is a diner right next door with great food and service. Walking into the hotel, it gives appearance of modernity. Unfortunately that’s where it ends . Rooms were clean. the pool area has several safety conditions : broken chairs that you fall into when you sit and they’re plastic so it’s sharp. Open holes on the deck where the humidifiers drip into without covers at least 6” in diameter. hallways are poorly lit

Served our purpose
The bed was very comfortable and it was fine for our one night stay. The location is very convenient to Old Mystik Village and a few restaurants. The property is a bit dated, but served our purpose just fine. The gym was very small with only one treadmill, one bike, and one elliptical, and it was uncomfortably hot.
