Such a nicer option than the usual Big Brand hotels and motels, particularly to visit the Pennsylvania countryside. Located easy driving distance from all the Pennsylvania Dutch activities, the Inn was a perfect home base for a few days of sightseeing, shopping, and eating. The Innkeeper, Karen, was a lovely hostess, sharing recommendations on restaurants and museums. Homemade breakfast was a beautiful start to the day. The Inn has a lawn and fire pit (which we did not use in the summer heat) and a pretty sitting room. We look forward to staying there again!

This Inn is so charming-my husband and I stayed in the top apartment and it was wonderful! The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable and it was so nice to have a kitchen. The have a bar, a fire pit music on the weekend. Karen, our Hostess, was fabulous and her cooking was great. The Inn is close to major sights in Lancaster. We would highly recommend the Inn for a wonderful experience! Charlie and Marilyn

Really couldn’t be nicer ! Karen is a very hard-working and thoughtful host. The yellow room is our favorite and we’ll certainly be back. Very glad for the EV charger- nice to wake up and know the car was all charged up. Breakfast was first rate- homemade waffles, fruit and oatmeal. Bedding is fantastic and the room is well-appointed

I generally don’t give a negative review unless I feel the need to do so. In this case, I feel it’s warranted. I made reservations at The Historic Smithton Inn, in Ephrata, PA. I booked my stay online for two nights. I chose to have breakfast delivered to our room. I do need to mention that breakfast is included with the price of the stay, unless you want it delivered to your room. In that case you pay an extra $15 per person per day that it’s delivered. I was willing to pay for this convenience. Which was $60 extra for my husband and I both. Furthermore, I felt it would be worth it because the website shows and raves about how nice these breakfasts are. Additionally, they show pictures that make them look delicious. When booking and adding these amenities, there is a place on the form that asks about dietary restrictions. I noted that there was a restriction and noted that specific restriction. To make a long story short, the owner called the day we were to check in, to inquire about our accommodations. I had my husband answer, due to me rushing about to get last minute things done before leaving (phone call was minutes before we were about to leave). However, my husband handed the phone to me after several minutes, saying that I should speak to the owner (Karen). She basically asked about the dietary restriction and another extra I paid to have while there. I reiterated what I had filled out online about the specific dietary restriction (not an uncommon restriction) She seemed annoyed about the request and mentioned what foods she made other guests. She then asked again if that is what I wanted. I replied yep! She then said goodbye and hung up abruptly. Upon speaking with my husband after the phone call ended, he said the owner had somewhat of a negative response when he mentioned the restriction (a nasty groan of some sort). On the second day of our stay, the owner herself brought the breakfast to our room (see picture) stating to my husband that it had the ingredient in the waffles that I requested not to add. She did not apologize or offer any kind of an explanation as to why she did not honor my request. The breakfasts themselves were slim pickings. The first day it was scrambled eggs (probably had milk in them, but she didn’t state that they did). Not at all what the pictures show on the website. I feel that, at the very least she should have apologized and offered to not charge for the breakfast. Also, why have the option to request a dietary restriction if it’s going to be a problem. She should have stated from the beginning that she was unable to make our breakfast the way we wanted. That’s it! I could have had the option of making other arrangements. However, she wanted me to pay the extra fee. It seemed like, by the looks of the breakfast, she punished us for the request. Also, the picnic lunch she made us was with stale hard bread. It included two sandwiches, fruit and drinks in a wine tote. Neither the breakfast or the pi

酒店回复: Thank you for your review and for the opportunity to address the concerns that were indicated. Please, though, first let me apologize for the delay in responding; I was not notified of the review. I would like to address each concern so this may be lengthy. The cost of breakfast delivery is $15 per room, not per person, as was indicated in your review. You did in fact pay $60, but that was for two breakfast deliveries, and two picnic lunches; picnic lunches are $15 per person, and was so indicated in the confirmation that was sent. The dietary restriction indicated was "no dairy", and my phone call was to inquire as to whether that meant no eggs as well, as I have experienced that with some guests who had indicated no dairy, but who actually also meant no eggs. I have been preparing meals for many guests with various dietary restrictions, and purchase vegan items, gluten-free items, including meatless products, and dairy-free cheeses. I apologize that your experience was not as it should have been, but was not at all offered a chance to address the issue real time during your two night stay. If I appeared annoyed at the request during the phone call, I apologize. However, I do not recall being annoyed, and the fact that I was making a phone call to make sure I understood the restriction should exemplify this. I may have explained during our conversation what I typically make, but I didn’t see any harm in being elaborate. As for the issues with the waffles, since unfortunately time has passed since your stay, due to only my fault, not yours, I know that it is my practice to ask those with restrictions if it is ok to cook or bake with an ingredient. Since it is being stated that I did not ask this, I apologize. As for the picture that is posted, there would have been a starter prior to the waffles, and there was not only one waffle, there were two. (As for the sausage, I know not in question, I buy those from Kings, a local Amish meat vendor at Green Dragon; I shop each Friday there to purchase local meats.) To address the TV issue. This was beyond my control, and a complete surprise to me. What had happened, without my knowledge, was that the account that had been in place was suddenly canceled, due to it having been inadvertently linked to the prior owner's information. I immediately informed guests in house that there was an issue, and I kept them apprised of the status. Sometimes not everything is possible to be fixed in real time. The initial issue was discovered Thursday evening, and I fixed the issue the next afternoon and sent another message out to everyone. I offered to go into each guest’s room to reset the TV. I do see that you had decided that you didn’t think it was worth the hassle, which explains why you did not ask me to go to fix the issue in your room. As for all of your concerns, none of them were brought to my attention while you were here; I therefore naturally thought that everything was ok. Final

My husband and I decided to try something new and found the Smithton. It was really nice, and Karen was great! The room was very clean! The bed was very comfortable. We had a fireplace that came with a log for each night you are there. The towels were really cozy and smelled so good! We went down to the winery/bar area and listened to the live music. We thought that was fun :) Breakfast was delicious! The waffles and the rice pudding. Chefs kiss! The inn is close to Lancaster, so we went there for the majority of the day. Overall, our first experience at a B&B was awesome thanks to the hospitality of Karen.

The price was good in comparison to other B&Bs in the area. We were able to book 1 night, many others required a 2 night minimum. We stayed in the Blue Room, it was nice, clean, well equipped with a coffee make, water and a refrigerator. The breakfast was okay, nothing fancy. The Innkeeper was responsive and friendly. This is a busy intersection so there was noise from traffic and loud vehicles. The B&B is kept nice, it has a lot of character. Restaurants were close by.

We found this inn on our route home from the south, and what a special treat! This Inn was built in the 1700's and had such beauty and charm. The bed was so lovely, the room very clean, and there was a sweet fireplace that we used with provided wood. So lovely on a bitter cold winters night. The breakfast was delicious and it was nice chatting with the owner. Highly recommend staying here!

My husband and I enjoyed our two night stay at The Historic Smithton Inn. We have previously stay at the Inn 3-4 times, so we were looking forward to our stay and we were not disappointed. Prior to our arrival the owner, Karen, had contacted me by text to confirm our arrival time and to ask if there were any request or concerns. Then we were warmly welcomed when we arrived. The owner was friendly and accommodating. Our room was very clean, the room warm on the cold winter day and the bed quite comfortable. The breakfast both mornings was delicious & plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.

An extraordinary B&B my wife and I stayed at 1/14-1/15. Large rooms, comfortable beds, a real fireplace supplied with a log, and heated bathroom floor. The manager went out of her way to provide breakfast before our early 1/15 departure. We’d love to stay there in warm weather (20F during our stay) to enjoy the many outdoor features.
