This place was very disgusting. The towels to bathe with were dirty, the mattress was filthy, the couch was stained, the lamps were ghetto. Absolutely terrible, worse stay ever! I would NEVER recommend anyone stay here.

The Econo Lodge I stayed at in Ruther Glen VA was a joke I took my family there for vacation. I got two hotels and my daughter did not feel safe. She had a two month old and a 4 yr old along with husband and the lock that pushes across was broken. She went to get the shower and the head of the shower fell off. The hotel was dirty. Me and my son and his girlfriend stayed in another room and it was dirty as well. My bed smelled like smoke. Had trouble breathing with the smell. He charged an additional $100.00 after I got there.I had already paid online the full amount would not give back money.. What a complete joke. The guy in the office was rude. Never again.

The rate was decent, but the condition of the property was awful.

The inside of the elevator looked like something from a horror movie.

The staff was unfriendly and seemed to begrudge helping.

You get what you pay for. That being said. The bed was good and the water pressure and temperature were great. Limited options in breakfast and parking fills up pretty fast.

This is the experience of our stay at the Hopewell, VA Econolodge. We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by an empty desk. We called "hello" repeatedly and even phoned the hotel thinking someone might come to answer the ringing phone. After about 10 minutes, the clerk came out and muttered a flustered "sorry" and asked our name. There was stacked up carpet in the hall. The room itself had two big blood stains on the wall outside the bathroom. The towel rack in the bathroom was missing and the hardware had very sharp edges. The climate control unit was broken and in about 6 pieces. The coffeemaker had no pot, but from the smell in the elevator and the stairs and hall there was other pot around. It was evening when we checked in and pretty sure there was a lady of the evening there as well. We returned the pieces of the towel rack to the clerk and he offered us a different room. Since the sheets were clean and bedbug free, we declined. This was a brief pit stop on a Tuesday night that offered newspapers to guests. However it was a Sunday edition. We didn't consider dining at the complimentary breakfast. The area itself was seedy, with an abandoned mini mall behind it. Unless you want to feel like a participant on Survivor, stay away.

It took almost an hour to get checked in because the front desk man had no idea what he was doing. He was also trying to double charge me and another customer who was in front of me. In addition to him being very disrespectful and asking if me and another customer wanted to stay somewhere else because we were all frustrated and very disgusted by his poor customer service. I’ve traveled to many hotels around the world and this was one of the worst experiences ever. HIGHLY don’t recommend coming here.
