The photos are old. This Rodeway had a fire next door long ago. The smell is in the rooms. Our room (we left) had a rotted bathtub that was leaking into the floor. Black mold on the corners of the tub. lobby had a broken ice machine and no air conditioning. high weeds and grass all around. Soot everywhere. Rotting overhead beams. The Rodewayt sign has months-old fire damage. It looks like the owner has given up.

This was one of the worst hotels we have every experienced. This is a very old, run down facility and looks it inside and out. We arrived late at night. The room was dingy, dirty, as was the bathtub. There were ants on the floor as well. Traveler Beware: This hotel charges and additional $73 in "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees", essentially adding half again the amount charged from the advertised amount. Bait & switch.. Highly Not Recommended.

I stayed in this horrendous hotel in October 2021. Watch my video!! Stay away! This place is a health hazard! - Bugs! Mold! Bodily fluids on the walls and bedding! - No phone in room! - Stained sheets, blankets and mattress with cigarette Burns! In a non smoking room! - Room smells of cigarettes and mold! Choice hotels does not care!

I arrived late, Room 106 was awful throughout, in daylight, I could see how rundown the property is outside. The pool cemented in. The only positive memory is Harry at reception who was most friendly and helpful.

I had an orientation at UD and did not want to commute from Philly. By the time I decided I wanted to stay in Newark, the good hotels were booked and expensive. The first night was fine, but we didn't sleep great. The next night I woke up at 12:30am to go to the bathroom and noticed a black spot, figured it was nothing, but decided to check it out. Turned out it was a cricket. Then I saw two others. I was disgusted, grossed out, and anxious. When I put a tissue over the bugs, they jumped away and I eventually lost one. There was another bug too that was crawling around. It was disgusting, I didn't even want to walk on the floor, I was scared they were going to jump at me. There are gaps under the door leading the outside to the inside of the room, so bugs can come whenever. I pulled the bedside table out to get to the outlet and there were dead bugs behind it. I was so distraught and uncomfortable and worried that there would be lots more bugs when I woke up, that at 1am I drove an hour home to Philly. I told the front desk person, and she said so what do you want another room, no I want a refund. She said she could only do one night, even though I had 2 nights left and left in the middle of the night because of bugs. I asked to have the manger contact me. Called the next day for the manger, nothing, gave my name and number. My mom called next day, nothing. She was not helpful, never told me when the manager would be back. She said her name was Sam, (coincidentally, my name is Samantha) so who knows if that is actually her name. She said the managers name was Terry, but I've never spoke to him, so again who knows. I would certainly not recommend this hotel. It is gross, has lots of bugs, the staff (at lease the ones I interacted with) do not care about their guests, it is next to an abandoned building, which is off putting, and a bit scary. There were also cockroaches on the walkway steps. Who wants to sleep with bugs, I definitely don’t. It doesn’t need to be a five-star hotel, but needs to be livable, clean, bug-free, and have staff that care.

It was late, we'd been driving a long time, everyone was tired and the decent hotels nearby were all full. This was our only option. The woman at the front desk was very nice and luckily gave us a room overlooking the parking lot so we could keep an eye on our car. The kids (12 and 14) asked to stay in the car instead b/c the place was so dodgy (we didn't let them!). My son slept in his sleeping bag and we told everyone not to leave anything on the floor because God knows what might come home with us. The sink didn't drain, the toilet didn't flush. Yuck. The whole place needs to be torn down.

Absolutely terrible place to stay. Potholes that will wreck your car everywhere in the parking lot. The heater was broken, the WiFi didn’t work, the door wouldn’t shut correctly so it was freezing the entire time. Saw a few cockroaches. DONT waste your money!!!! Disgusting.
