Ulisa Bay Lodge and Pottery Studio is a great place to spend a week. The hosts and staff were all super friendly. We bought some freshly caught fish from vendors at the outdoor lakeside market (which is just a two minute walk away) and the staff at the lodge helped us make a fire to smoke the fresh fish on the braai. The room was comfortable and clean and the restaurant served good food. Swimming in the lake was heavenly (bring goggles or a mask, so you can see all the gorgeous fish). We also enjoyed birdwatching and walks in the area. The lodge arranged a tour with local guides (via motorcycle) and that was awesome. The owners also helped us arrange transport via ferry, to and from the island. Hope to be back again soon. We loved our time here!

For other travellers we do have both masks and flippers in various sizes for guests to use. Maybe after the Covid time the staff had forgotten to put them on display. As George mentioned there are enormous numbers of small colourful fish in the rocks around the lodge. There are some unique species found only on Likoma Island.

When we arrived in Likoma we thought we were in the lost world. Our contact person had recommended a number of places for our lodging. We decided to try one place and it eventually became one of our most memorable stay in Likoma. Eunice and her staff were amazing and made our stay as simple as home. There is no any other place to go in Likoma other than Ulisa Bay Lodge.
