I was in Madison just overnight and must have struck a combination of last minute booking, two games on and god knows what else as EVERYTHING close to the center was expensive. Spark was the most reasonably priced that was a reasonable distance to downtown.. but even then the staff told me the rack rate is normally half the $370p/night I paid. That aside, this hotel was great. It is fresh and modern and everything felt clean. Staff were great. Special mention to Tim and Carolyn on reception, and the really genuinely kind Sherry who drove me to the game in the complimentary shuttle and collected me when i left early. The room I had was small but functional. I haven’t stayed at Hilton much this trip as I’m focussing on Marriott, but it’s nice to get new perspective. The bed was comfortable, a good desk for working, large flat screen TV, mini fridge, microwave.. this room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff as mentioned were friendly and helpful. There were delicious mini muffins out when I arrived, decent coffee and a small but fully functional bagel/cereal breakfast.. oh and the coffee was above the weak crud the residence inn serves! I had no problems during my stay and would stay here again. Thank you again to the staff

My husband and I stayed here over Valentine's weekend 2014, in a one-bedroom king suite. The room was very clean, a social hour and continental breakfast were provided, and the proximity to the Alliant Center was so convenient. We had a nice surprise with the full kitchen, complete with dishwasher. We have stayed here 3-4 times in the past and were never disappointed. The only things that could be improved are the cable service; mostly local channels, which are mainly news and sports. Looks like basic cable to me, not so great for a person looking for R&R while her husband is exhibiting at a model railroad show. Also, continental breakfast offers very little for the person who is gluten free. No yogurt, only fruit were banana's (citrus please), there were eggs, but not everyone can handle them. I would have been happy with an orange and/or an apple and a cup of yogurt. Not great for the person looking to not load up on carbs either. Other than those items, this hotel is very worth the stay.

This hotel had space when all others were sold out for Epic XGM. It’s not on the official Epic shuttle line but they had a free shuttle of their own if you reserve. Everyone was courteous on staff there and it’s walking distance to food across the street. The rooms were very spacious but they are a bit dated. However they did the job as I only spent one night there. It’s a great basic hotel with some amenities but it was also priced the same as others that are much newer. So overall o don’t know of the value was the best given the price. I was just grateful they still had a room for me due to a mishap at my originally intended hotel.

This place was so outdated and depressing. Toilet didn’t flush and faucet had a drip. We selected it because it is within walking to Allient Energy Center where we were seeing a show. Two stars because we didn’t have to get in the hour long traffic jam after the show and because it was clean.

The hotel is large and was nearly empty when we went. The place looks a bit run down and shabby. The people at the desk were nice, but I took nearly 10 minutes before the second person went into action to check in a long line of people. The room was a "suite" in that it was larger than average, had a kitchenette and a pullout couch. For some reason, the bathroom vanity was at my knees.

I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pretty pleasantly surprised. Yes, the hotel and rooms are old & pretty dated. But, everything was clean and working and looked well-maintained. For example, the wood furniture looks dated, but it’s chipped or cracked, and doesn’t have broken drawers or cabinet doors, etc. the refrigerator was a very basic older model, but it kept things cold and was clean inside & out. The couch & carpet look old but are clean & not threadbare. The staff was nice. Elevators were pretty quick. Parking was readily available and no space is too far from the door. Would definitely stay again. Especially compared to other hotels in the area when considering price.

We stayed here for a conference. We paid over $150 a night. It's a very dated hotel in need of renovations. It was clean but everything looked really old and well-worn. I thought the bed was too soft and mushy. The staff was very nice and friendly. The breakfast was a typical "free" breakfast and the coffee was weak. I expected more for the price we paid. There is a Starbucks across the street and one BBQ restaurant. Not much else in the way of restaurants nearby so if you don't have a car, you might want to stay closer to the city. Very convenient to the Alliant Energy Center- the only hotel that actually connects to it. There are other newer hotels within walking distance of the Convention center though. In the winter, I'm sure the connecting hallway to the convention center is a great benefit.
