Wish I'd known my room wouldn't be in the main building , as a single female I prefer to be in a hotel with access to reception 24hours without having to walk accross grounds and a phone in room to be able to call the desk if needs be . Also room service only available if you go in to the bar and order .... again not ideal when you have been travelling for hours, had a busy day at work and just want to relax and order food from the room . These little things do make a difference to me . Travelling for work alot ,so for these reasons I probably wouldn't stay here again . Overall a clean and tidy room , staff pleasant ,but a bit dingy ,dark and depressing in my room .

I had a lovely stay at the Best Western Plus West Retford Hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the historic building adds a lot of charm. My room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent—fresh and well-prepared. Only downside was the breakfast, which felt a bit basic compared to the rest of the experience. Overall, a peaceful and enjoyable stay. Would definitely return!

An excellent 4 night base for visits in the area. It must have been a splendid residence in the past. We have stayed before and will likely do so again.

Quick check in. Room comfy and clean. No plug sockets at the bedside. Very quiet. Lovely breakfast cooked to order.

Shocking stay avoid if wedding taking place
We suggest you check that a wedding is not booked during your stay. Kept awake with shouting, arguments, slamming doors til 6am. Reported to reception who said night porter was not available to do his rounds, as was kept busy in the bar for wedding guests. Dated rooms with badly stained carpet, bed solid. Never again, terrible experience.

Here for a masquerade ball on the Friday evening so stayed over for 2 nights.
Lovely room.Very comfy and clean
It did get a bit hot and we couldn't turn down the radiator.
There was a QR code that you could click on to access the hotel guide.Also a section where you could agree not to have your room serviced and could choose a reward instead(drinks or snacks)
I was very impressed as we didn't need our linen or towels changing. However having submitted my preference the link didn't work so we got our room serviced anyway.
Maybe it would be easier just to let the receptionist know as we have done in other hotel chains,and it worked well.No unnecessary linen washing and we got a little treat.Glad West Retford are championing this even though in my case it didn't work properly.
