Staff was friendly. However, upon ending my first nights stay , I discovered that the bathroom was full of roaches. Also, although I booked a smoking room, you could tell that the room had not been properly cleaned. It smelled like the previous tenants smoke and things hadn’t been cleaned in the room. The curtains had burn holes in them as well. In addition when I checked in the room and inspected, the bathroom had fingernail polish all over the sink and inside the sink. There was also nail polish on the furniture as well.
I made a complaint to the front desk, and they changed my room with no argument and hesitation. While they made that change without gruff, it let me know that they knew that the problem of the roaches existed. Also, there was a sewage back up on the same floor the second night that I changed rooms. I feel like this Howard Johnson location should not be renting rooms until they fix the sewage problem, and the roach issue.

1, the area looks shady at night. A fence around the property including the parking area would help.
2, there is NO FREE BREAKFAST. As a parent, I look for that in every hotel I go to. Even though it's stated on almost every site, *******, Orbitz, Google, etc. There is no free breakfast. The hotel needs to fix that immediately everywhere they are listed. And solution wise they could've given a voucher for breakfast for at least 1 day since we expected it.
3, the room LOOKS pretty but it really is not. The carpet is filthy, it has stains on it. When the furniture was wiped down it was not clean. 2 of the rooms, roaches were spotted. 1 of the rooms had bed bugs. My family was bitten all over her back, and she actually caught one. And all I was given was, oh we check for those. I'm sorry I don't know how that could've happened. I paid for 3 hotel rooms. I should've been refunded for at least that one. The bathrooms are old and need updating. The toilet paper dispenser was underneath the sink and looked grungy. The cups that were placed in the room were not covered in plastic, so who knows where they have been? They should've been individually wrapped in plastic.
4, they advertised a pool. The pool was unusable as it was empty.
The hotel has potential. It's not hopeless. But it definitely needs help. With so many hotels in the area, there's no need to pick this one with all these defects.
The staff (except the 1 person I told about the infestation) were polite.

只住一晚，说实话，还好。环境不太安全，但离市中心不远。木板路……免费停车场好像有酒店监控。我们的房间俯瞰着一条内部走廊……看不到风景，但人来人往的噪音……我的房间里没有冰箱，但床边有一台巨大的、噪音极大的风扇……结果一夜没睡。浴室还不错，毛巾干净又充足。整个地方还算干净，但略显陈旧。
房间和员工都很棒！别被外观迷惑了，如果你想找一个干净整洁、床铺舒适、价格实惠的住处，这里绝对是个不错的选择。一切都运转正常，空间也很大。虽然外观有些破旧，但靠近有趣的*******（步行即可到达硬石餐厅）和海滩。强烈推荐给那些想住得干净整洁又省钱的旅行者。
我很享受这里的一切，而且非常方便。
