This place was exceptional. I had to be in town for family reasons and was not expecting very much, but the Timberlake Hotel surprised me at every turn. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable. The pool was fun. This hotel is way better than it has any right to be. Thank you.

This hotel located on the eastern end of Staples opened before COVID, and what a welcome addition to the region. There aren’t many hotel options in the Staples, Motley, Pillager, Leader corridor of north central Minnesota; this is a good one. The service is good, the breakfast is ok and better than some budget hotels, and the rooms are reasonably good. The affiliated restaurant across the parking lot is more or less a traditional north woods diner, but is quite good, if that’s what you’re after. The hotel offers a small number of suites, which are spacious and accommodating. Book the suite if one is available.

I really liked this hotel. Every since the pandemic, it has been more and more difficult to get good service at restaurants and hotels. The shortage of staff has hit these industries hard. Timberlake is a rare exception. 200 bicyclists descended on Staples for a night. Dozen's of the cyclists stayed at this hotel including three of us in one room. Every interaction with the night desk, morning crew, food service and clean team was pleasant. They said hello with a smile every time. The property itself is beautiful and well maintained. Kudo's to the maintenance team. Rare hotel post pandemic! Kudos.

Having been burned more than once by glowing reviews of properties that turned out to be substandard, I approached this one with skepticism. But the location was just what we needed, so we gave it a try. Truly a hidden gem. I would stay here again anytime. Our room was large, very clean, comfortable and well appointed, including a small table with two chairs perfect for a game of cards or a bite to eat. Ideally, some lighting in the soft seating area - small sofa and chair - would be nice but that’s a minor detail. Breakfast was good, except better bread offerings (a few slices of sandwich bread was the only choice) would be nice; again, a minor detail. Check in and out was friendly and perfect. We look forward to returning and trying the restaurant.

New hotel. Very courteous guest relations and breakfast attendants. Complimentary breakfast is quite good, eggbake with sausage and seasoned tator tots for our 1 day stay, along with the standard fair. Not sure if they provided donuts. Rooms are very spacious with about a 48-50" TV. Channel selection could be expanded. Tiled Shower is huge, rainfall type shower head. Very clean, even guest relations staff were dusting in the am. Highly suggested if you are visiting or traveling thru the area enroute to a destination.

We came back to my hometown to visit my mom and we so happy to have a beautiful and modern hotel waiting for us. Huge room, comfortable beds, delicious breakfast, a fun pool area and inviting atmosphere. A great combination of rustic and modern. Definitely worth the $ and we will stay here again!
