Julio and his mother Digna were the consummate hosts. By far the best casa particular we stayed in. We stayed here going and coming from Santiago. The hostal is centrally located in the colonial city and all the beautiful squares around town are nearby My favorite was la plaza del Carmen. If you get a chance visit the studio of Martha Jimenez. We bought on of her prints,las chismosas celestiales. Put a smile on my face. At the end of the day we relaxed in the courtyard with a cuba libre and enjoyed our time talking to Julio and his mother. The fountain is amazing. The breakfast was the best of all the ones we had in Cuba. We especially appreciated the ham and cheese sandwich to go. The mangos were from their own backyard, simply delicious.

De casa is een mooi oud pand, met een redelijk gedateerd meubilair/inrichting (prima). Ontbijt was op z’n cubaans en ook prima. Aardige eigenaar die veel heeft verteld en zijn best doet om je goed te helpen. In Camagüey is niet heel veel te beleven, dus prima casa voor een nachtje.

Atmosfera autenticamente cubana anni '40, anche se le concessioni alla modernità, in primis l'aria condizionata nelle camere, funzionano a dovere. Si tratta anche di una casa veramente abitata dall'host e dai suoi genitori. Credo non dimenticheremo mai le serate passate con Julio a bere rum e a parlare di cinema e letteratura e ovviamente di Cuba!
