I am writing to formally complain about my recent stay at your hotel. During check-in, the receptionist did not request or verify any ID for our booking. Later that night, around 12:00am, our sleep was disturbed by loud knocking on our door. To our surprise, it was the police requesting identification, as they believed we were underage guests staying at the hotel. This situation was extremely embarrassing and upsetting. We fully cooperated and provided our identification immediately. However, this incident could have been avoided entirely if the receptionist had properly checked and verified our ID at the time of check-in. As paying guests, we expect a smooth and professional check-in process. Being disturbed at midnight by the police due to a failure in procedure was unacceptable and significantly affected our stay.

Located right in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil Leisure village this Travelodge will fill all your needs,the staff are very professional and polite it took.less than 5 minutes to check me in( thank you Kelly).My room was spacious airy and smelt nice. Tea,coffee,towels etc.supplied,with top ups when required. Hotel is surrounded by various places to eat,multiplex Vue cinema,leisure centre and a huge arcade games arena. Hotel is extremely quiet at night. Merthyr Tydfil town centre, shops ,train and bus station are less than 15 minutes walk away and the Taff Trail runs alongside the river. There is a car park I understand is first come first served but as a rambler I don't use it,may be best to check with the hotel. .

We were in Merthyr to watch football, and this Travelodge is ideally placed, being about 10 minutes walk from the High Street. It is situated on a leisure park, so there's plenty of food and drink outlets such as Nandos, Frankie and Benny's, Subway, McDonald's, etc, on the doorstep and other restaurants and pubs in the town centre. The rooms were as expected with comfortable beds, basics such as tea and coffee, soap/body wash and our room was clean and quiet despite overlooking the car park. In all good value for the price paid.

The location of the hotel meant it was easy to find and it was suitably situated very close to numerous food and leisure outlets. Check in and the purchase of extras was swift and my room was clean, smelt fresh, was well furnished and met all my requirements. Overall the hotel was value for money and I would certainly stay again when I am next in the area.

As a pilot I have stayed at a multitude of hotels. Travelodge Merthyr Tydfil rates amongst the very best. Parking is on site. One expects one’s room to be spacious, immaculately clean, warm and comfortable. This is most certainly the case at this hotel. The factor which sets this hotel apart from other hotels is the staff. Led by Leyla, the staff are nothing less than superb. Always friendly, welcoming and professional, the members of staff make one feel valued as a guest. I cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful staff.

Stayed here for one night. We were awakened after midnight by a male person walking into our room. This male person then said "oh sorry" and that he didn't know the room was occupied. My wife was extremely distressed by this incident, was unable to sleep and it totally ruined our trip, to visit my elderly Mother in a care home The following morning we found a note pushed under our door apologising and basically saying the room was shown as empty on the hotel system. What a shambles. Nobody available on reception in the morning to speak to. How did Travelodge customer service respond to my complaint. Merely trivialised the matter and offered me a free breakfast should I be stupid enough to book here again.
