Our room had beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and was spotlessly clean. There was a chouce if pillows, aircon and a fan. We didn't use either, just opened the window for fresh air. The shower was roomy and there was hot water. A lovely stay with freshly cooke meals..

Super comfy bed with lovely crisp bedding. Room comfortable, spotlessly clean and a good size. Fabulous cooked breakfast. Staff all really friendly. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended

My husband and I stayed here for two nights just for a short break. The hotel seems tired and could do with a spruce up. Our room was small but perfectly adequate with en-suite and tea/coffee making facilities. The gardens were beautiful and there is a children's play area but some of the outside equipment was broken. The bar was lovely and cosy and the breakfast was very good. I'd forgotten how narrow the roads are in Devon and you have to get to the hotel down a narrow road - which I hated but obviously nothing to do with the hotel owners. Plenty of parking at the hotel. We visited Buckfast Abbey and Trago Mills while we were there, both very close. If I was going to Devon again I'd look for somewhere a bit more lively but it is September and so not high season.

We had our wedding here on the 9th August, what can I say Carol and the whole team were absolutely fantastic from the Friday night when they held a barbecue to the Sunday morning when we left nothing is too much trouble. The day itself was stunning and all guests were well looked after with food and drink and gorgeous surroundings to enjoy it in thank you once again to Lavender House for making it the perfect day.

I booked a stay direct via the hotel website but, when I arrived, they didn't seem to be expecting me. I was given a room which was not the one I'd booked, albeit that wasn't a great issue. This wasn't mentioned until I said that I'd booked a different one though. I had no issue with the room and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a disaster. I went to breakfast at 8:20, hoping to have a relaxed start to my day. On arrival, there was just one family group present. On the way in, the waiter said he'd come to take my order shortly. I picked up an orange juice and headed to the table. I sat there for about 20 minutes by which time other guests had arrived and had their orders taken but I was not approached at all. I went up to the waiter and asked if I could have a cup of tea and gave him my breakfast order. Eventually my tea arrived but no breakfast. Most of the other guests were brought their breakfasts but mine didn't arrive. The waiter came over and asked me to repeat what I'd ordered and logged it on his phone. My breakfast eventually arrive at 8:59, 39 minutes after I'd been seated. The toast served was cremated so I asked for a replacement, the waiter said he'd get some. In the meantime, I started to eat the breakfast which was very greasy and tasted as though it had been prepared in old cooking oil. There was oil on the plate which was very unappetising. My toast still did not arrive so again, after about 10 minutes, I went and asked where my toast was, to which he replied what toast!! The toast eventually arrived another 10 minutes later. By then my egg was stone cold so the toast was no use at all and my egg remained uneaten. I feel that taking so long to serve breakfast is shockingly poor. I wasn't able to enjoy the experience at all, didn't get to eat what I wanted for my breakfast and then was rushed to get to my meeting on time. I was so disappointed. I had thought to stay a second night but shelved that idea. On returning home, I emailed the hotel as there'd been nobody in the reception area when I left. Over 3 days later, I've had no reply at all. I even sent a follow-up email which has not been replied to either.

Stunning views.Garden terrace needs good sweep and out the front reception.lots of cigarette butts.shame not more staff in the evenings,as poor lady trying to serve meals and served in bar.Breakfast staff polite and helpful.Room nice size, but very dark, was on ground floor near reception, plus smelt a little doggy.for price though did what we asked.just could do with extra member of staff and a little repaint in places, bit worn.

The Lavender House Hotel stepped up for us at short notice after we were badly let down by another local venue and helped to arrange my mum‘s wake. They made the arrangements very easy and everyone was very helpful in ensuring that the day, although a sad occasion, was enjoyed by all who attended. The buffet that they put on was first class and the staff service was attentive and very professional. I would highly recommend the Lavender House Hotel and from now on, they are my number one choice for venues in Ashburton.
