This hotel has a premium location by the motorway. Obviously, nearly everyone is going to arrive by car. This is why the hotel proclaims “Free parking” as their number one facility and boasted attraction on the website. But what they don’t tell you (in any prominent way on their website, or in any of the booking documentation) is that there are strings attached to this offer: parking is actually NOT free if you fail to register your car on arrival at reception. Yes, this is easy enough to do if you know you need to do it; but it’s perfectly evident from other reviews that not everybody sees or reads the rather minimal signage on arrival at the hotel, nor realises that, as a guest, you don’t qualify automatically for the promised “Free parking”. Reception staff need to be much more alert to this, and take proactive care as a standard measure to inform, alert and remind ALL arriving guests of this requirement, with (perhaps) a particular focus on anyone who might reasonably be distracted when walking past the signage on the way into reception - can I suggest perhaps special consideration for elderly or disabled guests, those with small children, those arriving after dark, etc etc? Not difficult, and this will help to ensure guests avoid the huge and unpleasant surprise of a Parking Charge Notice and fine from Horizon car parking (which, seemingly, others have also encountered as a nasty post-visit shock). I’m a big fan of Premier Inn, but you’re really letting yourselves down here!! This is your car park - sort it out!

We had a great stay our room was lovely and warm when we arrived, the receptionist was welcoming and friendly. Our room was larger than we required but an amazing clean space. The air-conditioning was confusing but we managed to get it working. We where located on the first floor and although no lift only a few stairs to our room. Thank you to the housekeeper for the extra towels, nothing was to much trouble. Our breakfast each morning was hot and nothing was to much trouble and it was nice the chef even had time to have a chat, great personal service. Thank you again, P.s Watch out for the speed bump when entering the car park it caught us out, apparently it's only temporary for fixing some cabling

Very friendly staff on reception when we arrived, check in was quick and when we got to our room it was lovely and warm a good size and very clean and tidy. If a little dated, the building from the outside looks like it could also do with a coat of paint. We have a pleasant stay and would be happy to return.

What a great Premier Inn, you always know what you expect and this one was no exception. The room was lovely and clean and spacious, the same old 1 Hand towel though come on Premier Inn its about time you gave more towels. Thank you to the receptionist who managed to stock us up and even gave us an extra heater. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We stopped for breakfast and nothing was to much trouble, the scrambled eggs was amazing. You need to get some new toasters if i was in a hurry i would have gave up waiting for the toast...

Lovely welcome with the great Christmas Decorations and gifts available for kids, a wonderful welcome. Our room was spacious, clean and warm just what we wanted on that chilli night. Thank you to the receptionist who made us very welcome when we arrived. The breakfast was fantastic, amazingly hot and nice to see the buffet loaded up even though only a few people eating, some premier inn we stay at take our orders but it's not the same has being able to help yourself. Great Team effort we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The main building could do with a paint job from the outside, and watch out - they have a temporary speed bump on the entrance that caught us out and it's like Mount Everest. Thank you again we had a great stay

I’ve never left a negative review before but this experience has left me genuinely frustrated and disappointed. We stayed two weeks ago and now just in time for Christmas, we’ve received a parking charge in the post - a really fantastic “Christmas present” … The signs in the car park were dimly lit and almost impossible to see in the dark (we arrived in the dark and departed in the dark) and there was nothing in the pre-arrival information alerting guests to the requirement of registering to avoid a fine. Disappointingly, we also chatted to receptionist, even mentioned car and she did not mention the fact we had to register. The hotel advertises “free parking”, yet we were penalized despite acting in good faith. When I called to explain, the response was essentially “tough luck”. Guests should know that the so-called “free parking” is far from free, and the lack of clear communication makes this a very disappointing experience.

Breakfast at Ruiston Taunton Great breakfast, very helpful staff, very affordable. Easy parking and just off M5. Fab!
