We booked Premier Plus Rooms for our business stay & could not fault them. The room was clean and comfortable - their beds are the best. The staff members who we dealt with on check in and in the restaurant were very unenthusiastic and not welcoming at all!

We stayed at this Premier Inn while we were visiting some family, and going to the Lego center in Birmingham. Overall, the Premier Inn was exactly what we needed, a quiet and clean hotel with a tasty breakfast that didn’t cost us too much. However, there are a few things that could’ve been improved. One of the children’s bed was rock hard and my oldest son who is 10 years old hardly slept because it was so uncomfortable. It was also really hot in the room. even though we turned the thermostat down. The ceiling around the shower screen was also a right mess, and hanging off. The breakfast was really tasty, but the waitress that served us was miserable, and it looked like she just didn’t want to be there.

Our room was okay for the most part, clean and comfortable, A few things to note: virtually no toilet roll in the dispenser on arrival (we had to ask for it to be replenished as the rooms are not cleaned daily). Heating system didn’t work very well and was really noisy. Since the restaurant has been taken over by premier inn (used to be Beefeater) the service has dropped hugely - basically because of a distinct lack of staffing. The staff on site work incredibly hard and could not do more to be helpful, polite and professional…. But when there are two people expected to run the reception, bar and restaurant when the hotel is fully booked it’s just untenable! I would strongly suggest premier inn allow more staffing in the restaurant in particular, before your good staff end up leaving to do a job that is actually reasonable instead of being absolutely run off their feet and constantly feeling like they are giving poor service. None of them said this to us but it was evident by the way they looked completely run ragged! We also found it very difficult to get a table in the restaurant. One of the benefits of staying here is the restaurant next door…. However due to the aforementioned lack of staffing, it’s not run to capacity therefore booking a table is essential. However, on your first night it’s impossible to book by telephone (we tried on 3 separate occasions) and arriving late this meant we missed out. We’ve stayed here for the last 4 years every time we attend an event at the NEC, however next year we are moving as the price is more expensive than alternatives where better service and amenities are on hand.
